Emerging from its war-torn past, Điện Biên Province is undergoing a profound transformation, revealing a new identity and spirit.

Exactly 70 years ago, the people of Điện Biên stood shoulder to shoulder with armed forces and citizens from across the nation, under the skilled leadership of the late General Võ Nguyên Giáp, to achieve the historic Điện Biên Phủ Victory—a triumph that echoed across continents and reverberated globally.

Following the victory on May 7, 1954, numerous soldiers and civilians from the plains volunteered to assist the people of Điện Biên in rehabilitating the battlefield and forging a new path forward.

Now, seven decades later, the once scarred landscape, once plagued by bombs and bullets, has blossomed into the fertile Mường Thanh fields, renowned far and wide for their fragrant rice and sticky rice.

Electricity now illuminates every village. Spacious houses on stilts dot the landscape, a testament to resilience and progress, while the joyful melodies of children echo from bustling schools.

The scars of the past, etched by the trauma of bombs, have been replaced by a new and more prosperous landscape—a transformation that speaks volumes of the indomitable spirit of the people.
