Together for better future: Điện Biên’s drive to leave no one behind

ĐBP - With the message “The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind,” agencies, organizations, and localities across the province have rallied to support low-income households and families in difficult circumstances.

Their combined efforts have created strong community momentum, helping many households overcome hardship and stabilize their lives. This collective commitment has become a key driver of sustainable poverty reduction and continues to propel Điện Biên province’s development.

The movement “The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind” has supported the construction and repair of 9,819 great solidarity houses for low-income families.

Thanks to financial support and the help of relatives, friends, and fellow villagers, the new home of Kháng A Lử in Tàng Phon hamlet, Nậm Kè commune, has just been completed, far sturdier and more spacious than the old one. “After months of construction, we can finally move in,” Lử shared. “Everyone in the family is happy because we no longer have to worry about storms or heavy rains. For us, this new house is not only a place to live but also motivation to work harder and improve our livelihood.”

The emulation movement “The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind” is a sound policy of the Party and the State, giving disadvantaged households the opportunity to escape poverty sustainably. With State investment and active participation from units and local governments, many households have received practical livelihood support such as crop seedlings, livestock breeds, farming tools, and technical guidance in cultivation and animal husbandry. As a result, numerous poverty reduction models and livelihood projects have taken shape, providing stable employment and increasing household income. Reflecting on the program’s effectiveness, Lò Văn Thành of Mới hamlet (Mường Ảng commune) noted: “The support is highly practical and meets real local needs. With livestock and tools, people feel more confident developing their economy. It’s a real driving force for our hamlet to rise out of poverty toward sustainable prosperity.”

Political and social organizations in the province have stepped up efforts to mobilize support from central and local agencies nationwide to help those in need. Recognizing poverty reduction as a core mission, the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee have consistently provided strong guidance for the movement “For the poor - No one left behind.” Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the entire political system, the movement has grown robustly and gained widespread support across society. It has become a key motivator for localities to implement meaningful initiatives aimed at improving living standards, particularly for poor and vulnerable households.

Alongside these efforts, the Farmers’ Support Fund has provided loans to 652 households, with outstanding credit reaching nearly VND 28 billion. The Farmers’ Union has also partnered with the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to extend loans to 21,040 poor and policy-beneficiary households. The Union has supplied more than 4,500 crop seedlings, 97,614 tons of fertilizer, 30,331 tons of rice and maize seeds, hundreds of thousands of plant protection packages, and over 1,000 tons of animal feed.

Under the program “Supporting women in border areas”, various units donated gifts worth more than VND 1.6 billion. Separately, the “Sponsor mother” initiative, implemented by the provincial Women’s Union, has mobilized support for 217 orphaned children. Overall, the movement “For the poor - No one left behind” has produced remarkable results, improving material and spiritual well-being, ensuring social stability, and promoting socio-economic development across the province.

Alongside these efforts, the provincial Business Association has continued to provide gifts and assistance to students from poor households.

According to Lò Hồng Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the emulation movement for the 2021-2025 period has been launched province wide through diverse and practical activities tailored to local conditions. It has earned strong support from officials, public employees, workers, and residents. Emulation activities are closely linked to professional tasks within each unit, contributing significantly to achieving sectoral goals and fulfilling the province’s poverty reduction targets.

With the firm commitment to “leave no one behind,” the movement has become a defining highlight, drawing widespread public attention and generating strong momentum. Comprehensive and effective poverty reduction programs have boosted production, improved living standards, strengthened political security and social order, and transformed rural areas. Ethnic policy initiatives and poverty alleviation programs continue to receive close oversight, improving both material and spiritual life for residents. Social welfare activities implemented by government agencies, mass organizations, and charitable groups have mobilized substantial resources, delivering practical support to poor households and disadvantaged families. Notably, the movement has inspired a spirit of self-reliance, encouraging people to overcome challenges and strive for a better future.
