The exhibition is jointly organised by the Điện Biên Phủ Historical Victory Museum and the Quảng Bình General Museum.
The exhibition features 103 photos collected by the Điện Biên Phủ Historical Victory Museum and is divided into three sections.
The first part introduces General Võ Nguyên Giáp’s homeland and family, showcasing images and documents that depict his early life and background. This section also highlights his steadfast revolutionary spirit, his close relationship with President Hồ Chí Minh as one of his most outstanding students, and his role as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Việt Nam People’s Army.
The second part focuses on General Giáp’s involvement in the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign. Through historical photographs, this section illustrates significant milestones in his career, beginning in 1944 with the formation of the Việt Nam Armed Propaganda Unit for National Liberation, and the development of the first regular army in 1949. It also emphasises General Giáp’s brilliant and decisive leadership as the Supreme Commander during the 1954 Điện Biên Phủ Campaign, which led to the historic victory over the French army, a triumph celebrated worldwide.
The third part highlights the deep affection that the people of Điện Biên hold for General Giáp. This section features images that capture the close bond between the General and Điện Biên, as well as the respect and admiration of the various ethnic communities in Điện Biên Province towards him.
In addition to the photo exhibition, the Điện Biên Phủ Historical Victory Museum is also showcasing a video clip that highlights the museum's significant activities. Visitors can explore publications and brochures about Điện Biên tourism, as well as various works produced by the museum.
Moreover, special interactive spaces have been created where visitors can take photos to capture memorable moments that commemorate the historic Điện Biên Phủ Victory of 1954.
The photo exhibition aims to present the life, career, and substantial contributions of General and Supreme Commander Võ Nguyên Giáp, emphasising his strategic decisions during the resistance war against the French colonial forces, particularly in the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign.
Additionally, it serves as an opportunity to promote the cultural heritage, tourism products, and the potential of Điện Biên Province. The event also fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing between the museums, enhancing understanding of cultural heritage and strengthening the relationship between the two institutions.
The photo exhibition will run from August 19 to September 20, 2024.
