The Điện Biên Provincial People's Committee joint organised the event with the Department of Cinematography under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, deputy head of the Department of Cinematography Nguyễn Thị Thu Hà said that the film week is one of the meaningful activities of Việt Nam film industry to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.
“Through the cinematographic works presented during the event, our goal is to promote the historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions of our nation. The event will help to foster the patriotism, heroism, unity, national pride, self-reliance, and resilience among Vietnamese people.
In addition, it will also highlight the remarkable reputation and historical significance of the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign and the resistance war against the French colonialists, affirming the achievements of our Party and people in the fight for national liberation, independence, and the building and defense of the country," she said.
Taking place from April 24 to 30, the film week has been featuring several films, including the documentary Đồng Hành Cùng Lịch Sử (Going together with History), Ký Ức Những Người Truyền Lửa (Memories of the Torchbearers), and the feature movie Đào, Phở và Piano (Peach Blossom, Phở, and Piano. The screenings start at 8pm every day during the week.
Right after the opening ceremony, hundreds of audience had enjoyed the documentary film Đồng Hành Cùng Lịch Sử and the feature film Đào, Phở và Piano.
