Điện Biên women actively join hands to safeguard the frontiers

ĐBP - Across remote frontier lands, ethnic minority women not only nurture their hearths and build their villages, but have become extended arms standing shoulder to shoulder with the border guard to protect boundary lines and national landmarks.

Through concrete deeds, from participating in patrols and clearing boundary trails to conducting outreach and mobilizing villagers to observe the law, these blossoms perform everyday actions that forge a resilient posture based on the people’s hearts and minds, uniting to safeguard every sacred inch of the Fatherland’s soil.

During golden sunny June days across mountain slopes, frontier patrol trails continue to bear the silent footsteps of guard rounds. Amid the tranquil rhythm of life in Nậm Nhừ 1 village, Nà Hỳ commune, a fresh milestone unfolded when the Self-Governing Women’s Team for Boundary Line and Landmark Protection was officially inaugurated and commenced operations. Women long accustomed to household chores and upland farming have joined forces to protect the boundary line and national stones, ensuring every step along the frontier remains steadfast and every hamlet stays peaceful.

Members of the Self-Governing Women’s Team for Boundary Line and Landmark Protection of Nậm Nhừ 1 village participate in patrols to protect boundary lines and markers alongside border guard soldiers.

On a patrol route alongside officers and soldiers of the Nậm Nhừ Border Post, Giàng Thị Cha, a member of the Self-Governing Women’s Team for Boundary Line and Landmark Protection, could not conceal her joy upon setting foot directly on frontier trails for the first time and witnessing national sovereign markers with her own eyes. To her, each patrol provides not merely an occasion to assist in safeguarding boundaries and landmarks, but deepens her appreciation of the duties border residents bear in defending the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland.

Giàng Thị Cha shared that joining the soldiers on patrol for the first time filled her with immense happiness and pride. Previously aware that boundaries and landmarks denote national sovereignty, walking the patrol route and viewing each landmark firsthand clarified its profound significance and her personal duty. Moving forward, she and her peers resolve to participate fully in patrol drives, partnering with border guards to protect border markers and keep their village peaceful.

The Self-Governing Women’s Team for Boundary Line and Landmark Protection in Nậm Nhừ 1 village comprises 10 members, entirely composed of Mông ethnic women. Though each individual manages distinct domestic circumstances and livelihoods, they share a unified sense of communal responsibility, public order vigilance, and dedication to border sovereignty. Through practical tasks, they aspire to join border guard officers and soldiers in maintaining boundary lines and markers while preserving village tranquility.

Following its launch, the team is tasked with educating and mobilizing women, families, and local residents to observe national border laws, bilateral agreements, and border management regulations between Việt Nam and Laos, strictly avoiding unauthorized cross-border farming, settlement, or undocumented crossings. During daily labor, agricultural production, and routines near boundary lines and national markers, members proactively monitor developments to detect, compile, and report anomalies, boundary stone dislocations, physical damage, statutory infractions, or suspicious activities to the Nậm Nhừ Border Post and local authorities without delay.

Leaders of Nà Hỳ commune present gifts to the Self-Governing Women’s Team for Boundary Line and Landmark Protection of Nậm Nhừ 1 village during the launching ceremony.

Hoàng Thị Sông, Head of the Self-Governing Women’s Team for Boundary Line and Landmark Protection in Nậm Nhừ 1 village, shared that protecting boundaries, landmarks, and hometown peace constitutes a civic obligation for all residents, including women. The team resolves to elevate mutual responsibility, actively mobilize families and neighbors to comply with regulations, and notify functional forces immediately upon identifying abnormalities, believing that shared individual contributions make borders sturdier and hamlets more secure.

Lang Thị Nương, Vice Chairwoman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and in charge of the Women’s Union of Nà Hỳ commune, stated that establishing the team concretizes the joint action program “Accompanying Frontier Women” between the Nà Hỳ commune Women’s Union, the Nậm Nhừ Border Post, and the Nà Hỳ Border Post. Through this model, organizers seek to awaken voluntary initiative and accountability among female members so every household and border inhabitant genuinely serves as a primary actor safeguarding boundaries and reinforcing a solid all-people border defense posture.

Major Đỗ Xuân Điềm, Political Officer of the Nậm Nhừ Border Post, shared that establishing the self-governing team represents a practical method enhancing the participatory role of the people in defending territorial sovereignty and national border security. From the voluntary consensus and collective endeavors of women members, households, and residents, military-civilian solidarity is continuously reinforced, cementing the posture rooted in the people’s hearts and minds across the frontiers as the bedrock to safeguard village peace and protect every sacred inch of the Fatherland.

Blossoms on the frontier are contributing their distinct colors to the journey of maintaining peace along the nation’s ramparts. Through the concrete actions of women, dedication to border sovereignty spreads across every home and citizen, demonstrating how the posture of public support is nurtured from the grassroots level through trust, consensus, and meaningful labor. When the military and the people share a unified will, boundaries and landmarks are preserved not only by patrolling footsteps, but through love of homeland, civic devotion, and the profound bonds of ethnic communities along the frontiers.
