Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding High School officially went into operation and enrolled students from the 2018 - 2019 school year; at that time, the school did not have its own facilities. To organize teaching and learning activities, the school had to share with Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding Secondary School. Starting from 2024, the school officially has independent facilities serving teaching and learning.
Although having its own headquarters, Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding High School lacks many items such as subject classrooms, administration buildings, especially playgrounds and training grounds for boarding students. In that context, in 2023, the movement of VND 2,000 per day for education was launched. The movement has become a support for the school to overcome difficulties, joining hands to mobilize resources to complete facilities.
Nguyễn Văn Tập, Principal of Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding High School, said: In the 2025 - 2026 school year, the school has 348 boarding students; daily learning and living activities take place at the school. Except for classrooms, dormitories, and the canteen, most of the school campus is still dirt yards. When it is sunny, living is more convenient, but when it rains, students’ travel, study, and play are greatly affected. The movement of saving VND 2,000 for education is implemented as a way for the school and students to participate together in completing facilities. At the same time, the savings movement helps educate students on awareness and responsibility, contributing to improving the school environment. Thereby creating a spread and sharing in the community when students themselves are the ones joining forces to make changes in the school.
After two years of implementation, the movement has brought many clear results. School campus infrastructure has been supplemented, and students’ physical learning and playing spaces have been gradually improved. Currently, each class raises one savings piggy bank; professional groups, the office, and the school board also participate, totaling 17 savings pigs.
Vũ Thị Phượng, homeroom teacher of class 10A1, Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding High School, said that her class raises a piggy bank; usually every weekend, during the class meeting hour, the teacher and students put savings into the class’s piggy bank together. The amount is large or small depending on the circumstances of each student. Students in the class are all excited to participate because every year, from the fund of the savings movement, students have new, spacious, and safe works serving study and daily life at school.
At the beginning of the new school year, Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding High School opened the pigs of the 2024 - 2025 school year, collecting over VND 41 million. From the movement’s money, combined with contributions and support in kind and labor days of teachers and workers, the school invested in renovating the landscape, solidly concreting a number of internal roads, and building a pickleball court worth over VND 80 million.
Lầu A Năm, class 10A3, Nà Hỳ Ethnic Boarding High School, shared: My house is in Si Pa Phìn commune, quite far away, so I rarely go home. The first year of boarding, far from home, in a new environment, I was quite confused. The school recently built a pickleball court; after school, I often come to play, so it is easier to integrate, get to know many new friends, and support and help each other when away from home. Knowing that the playground was built from the school-wide savings movement, my class actively participates in the piggy bank raising movement. Although the contribution is small, it has great significance to me, because from that contribution, the learning environment for me and my friends will become better and more complete day by day.
The joining of hands of teachers and students at the border school has contributed to completing the learning environment, while creating positive changes in students’ awareness and actions. From small actions, the movement has spread profound educational values, nurturing character, developing the spirit of solidarity, and the community awareness and responsibility of each student.
