The event was attended by local officials, including Mr. Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Mrs. Giàng Thị Hoa, Member of the provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council; and Mr. Vừ A Bằng, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, among others.
In the National Excellent Student Competition for the academic year 2024-2025, Điện Biên Province achieved 22 awards, comprising one First, four Seconds, six Thirds, and 11 Consolation Prizes. Among them, 21 winners were from Lê Quý Đôn Gifted High School, and one was from Biên Biên District’s High School.
Notably, the student who won the First Prize in Biology was selected to participate in a further qualification exam for the 2025 International Olympic Team. This marks the third time the province has had a student selected for such exam and the first year the province ranked first in biology in a national excellent student competition.
Particularly, this year is the first time the province has all subjects entering in the competition earning awards and the first time the province secured Second Prizes in Mathematics, Informatics, and Geography with students competing from the 11th grade level. Among seven provinces in Emulation Cluster 4, Điện Biên ranked fourth in the number of awards and second in the quality of awards.
In his speech, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Lê Thành Đô, emphasized: “The exceptional achievements of our students in this year’s National Excellent Student Competition reflect their perseverance, determination, and passion for learning. Their success is inspiring, respectful and a source of pride. These results are not only due to the students’ immense efforts but also the dedication, creativity, and commitment of their teachers, who have worked days and nights to enhance the quality of education. These accomplishments will serve as a solid foundation for our educators and students to achieve even greater success in the future.”
On behalf of the provincial leadership, Chairman Lê Thành Đô expressed deep appreciation for the significant contributions of educational managers and teachers and congratulated the outstanding achievements of the students. He also highlighted the remarkable progress of the province’s education and training sector in recent years.
The official called on Party committees, authorities, provincial departments, socio-political organizations, parents, and the community to continue supporting local education and training sector. He stressed the importance of creating favorable and comprehensive conditions for students’ learning and development, while also focusing on improving the working conditions of teachers to foster the cultivation of talented students for the province and the nation.
On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to 11 students with outstanding achievements in the National Excellent Student Competition, as well as one collective and three teachers with exceptional contributions to the competition. The provincial Youth Union presented certificates of merit to 11 students and 8 teachers, while the provincial Labor Federation honored 9 individuals.
Additionally, the provincial Department of Education and Training, the Education Union, the Study Promotion Association, and several local businesses presented certificates of merit and rewards to outstanding students and teachers in the National Excellent Student Competition for the academic year 2024-2025.
