Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper wins Consolation Prize at 9th National Press Awards on Party Building

ĐBP - On the evening of January 20, in Hà Nội, the Party Central Committee’s Central Organizing Commission, in collaboration with Nhân Dân Newspaper, Communist Review, Vietnam Television, and the Việt Nam Journalists’ Association, organized the award ceremony for the 9th National Press Awards on Party Building - the Búa Liềm Vàng (Golden Hammer and Sickle) Awards 2024.

The event coincided with the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - 2025). The Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper won a consolation prize at the event.

Party General Secretary Tô Lâm and Mr. Trần Cẩm Tú presented A prizes to winning authors.

The ceremony was attended by notable figures, including Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, former General Secretary Nông Đức Mạnh, former Politburo members and National Assembly Chairpersons Nguyễn Sinh Hùng and Nguyễn Thị Kim Ngân, Chairman of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Trần Cẩm Tú, and Chairman of the Central Organizing Commission Lê Minh Hưng, among others.

Reportedly, The organizing panel of the 9th edition received 2,544 entries, up 15% compared to the previous one. Entries were diverse in topics and formats, encompassing all provinces and cities nationwide. Most works addressed pressing issues, highlighted key events, and focused on the major tasks of the political system and the country, offering in-depth perspectives on Party building and reform.

Particularly, after a series of articles by Party General Secretary Tô Lâm outlining strategic visions for the Party’s leadership in a new era, journalists were inspired to explore new themes and produce impactful works reflecting innovative approaches in leadership, socio-economic development, national defense, and Party building. Several such works were honored during the ceremony, showcasing the significance of the Golden Hammer and Sickle as a prestigious national press award.

Speaking at the ceremony, Party General Secretary Tô Lâm commended the entries for their rich content and creative presentation. He emphasized that the year of 2025 will be pivotal for implementing the Party’s 13th Congress Resolutions and preparing for the 14th Congress, amidst significant national milestones. He urged journalists to further contribute to strengthening the Party’s integrity and leadership role, aligning with its historical mission in a new era.

The ceremony honored 6 A prizes, 12 B prizes, 18 C prizes, and 40 consolation prizes. Among them, the Điện Biên Phủ Newspaper team, including journalists Hà Hải Yến and Mai Lương Giáp, received a consolation prize for their piece “Breakthroughs in Party Development in Ethnic Minority Areas of Điện Biên.”

Additionally, the organizing panel recognized 7 exemplary Party members featured in winning works, awarded 3 units for creative media products, and commended 12 outstanding agencies and organizations that supported the awards. The 10th National Press Award on Party Building, scheduled for 2025, was officially launched during the ceremony.

The event concluded with a special art program titled “With the Party - perfect trust” to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam.
