Along with the efforts of the education and training sector, many volunteer groups have proactively accompanied, bringing warm clothes to children in remote and isolated areas. Those simple but meaningful gifts have contributed to helping highland students step more firmly, welcoming a warmer winter.
In Điện Biên province, many schools in remote, isolated, and border areas are still lacking. Every winter, highland students have to face prolonged cold. Understanding that, organizations, unions, and volunteer groups have joined hands to bring warmth to them, spreading the spirit of sharing and contributing to accompanying students on the way to school.
In 2025, the provincial Business Association continued to deploy the program “Giving gifts to highland children - Enterprises accompanying children to school.” In 2 days (December 10 - 11), nearly 1,730 warm coats were handed directly to students in two communes: Tuần Giáo and Mường Nhà, contributing to bringing them a warmer winter.
In the final days of 2025, although severe and damaging cold has not yet appeared, at highland school sites, the weather is still quite cold. Many students still lack conditions to buy themselves a warm coat, making going to class even harder. Located in an area with relatively low temperatures, Mường Nhà Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Mường Nhà commune) always faces many difficulties, especially in the harsh winter.
The whole school currently has 806 students, of which more than 200 are from households with difficult circumstances. Although parents always try to care for their children, due to limited conditions, many children only have one warm coat to wear when coming to class. Even on severely cold days, washing clothes becomes a worry because they don’t have clothes to change into. Faced with that reality, the school received practical attention from the provincial Business Association and enterprises and social organizations giving warm clothes to students, bringing great joy to teachers and students.
Lê Thế Hoàn, Principal of Mường Nhà Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, said: “The students are very excited and happy to receive this meaningful gift. In the cold weather, warm clothes help them be better protected, assured in studying. Teachers also feel very warmed by the attention of enterprises. Those simple but humane gifts not only help them overcome the harsh winter but also give more motivation for them to continue going to school, nurturing dreams and faith in community sharing.”
Recently, the provincial Business Association and member enterprises have always accompanied highland students through meaningful warm clothes donation programs. This has become an annual activity to share difficulties and add motivation for children at school sites that still lack many things.
Nguyễn Chí Ba, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial Business Association, said: “We always consider accompanying highland students as the responsibility and sentiment of the business community. Hope that these small coats will help them step more firmly on the learning path.”
In the last days of November 2025, the atmosphere in Na Sang commune became bustling when the Central Youth Union organized the Journey accompanying border students, within the framework of the Project “Vietnamese Youth accompanying children in border areas period 2025 - 2030,” Winter Volunteer Program 2025 and Spring Volunteer 2026.
In this series of meaningful activities, the Central Youth Union inaugurated the “Computer room for kids” at Ma Thì Hồ Ethnic Boarding Primary School; awarded scholarships, gave bicycles and health insurance cards to students with difficult circumstances, and sent many practical gifts to poor people in the commune. Especially, 290 students of the school received new warm clothes - a simple gift but of great value to them in cold winter days.
Wearing thick, warm new coats, the students’ faces were radiant, their eyes sparkling with joy and excitement. Crispy laughter rang out in the highland schoolyard, making the atmosphere warmer.
Trần Trung Nhân, Principal of Ma Thì Hồ Ethnic Boarding Primary School, shared: “Receiving new clothes helps them maintain their health, adding motivation to go to school more regularly. The School Board is very grateful for the attention of the Central Youth Union and accompanying units for bringing warmth to students here.”
In recent years, many organizations, unions, and benefactors have joined hands to support highland students through programs: Giving gifts, giving warm blankets, warm clothes, and essential items for winter. In places with harsh weather, the bone-chilling cold can become a barrier making many children hesitate to go to class, so that timely attention has contributed importantly to helping them maintain health, study with peace of mind, and continue the journey of pursuing literacy.
The image of warm clothes, small socks but imbued with gratitude always leaves many emotions. In highland areas, the radiant smiles of children when wearing new warm clothes have become the clearest proof of the meaning of volunteer activities. That journey of sending love has brought warmth to them in the cold winter; contributing to arousing hope, helping them be more confident on the learning path.
There are still many children suffering disadvantages in learning and living conditions, especially in cold winter days. In the coming time, hope that enterprises, social organizations, and philanthropists continue to pay attention and accompany highland students. The community’s joining hands will help them overcome difficulties, step more firmly on the learning path, opening up a bright future for highland students.
