Sports connect families

ĐBP - The first Pickleball Family Tournament in Điện Biên province for 2025 concluded successfully in the joyful atmosphere of the Vietnam’s Family Day (June 28). This was not just a warm sports event where family bonds were nurtured and beautiful memories created, but also a tournament that strongly spread the message about the role of sports in building happy and sustainable family homes.

The tournament aimed to promote the beautiful traditions of Vietnamese families, encourage healthy living through exercise, and build families that are prosperous, equal, progressive, and happy. At the same time, it also encouraged physical activities for people of all generations. The tournament created a healthy, meaningful, and engaging platform that attracted nearly 170 athletes from various departments, sectors, social organizations, and localities in the province. The enthusiastic participation of families demonstrated the appeal of this relatively new sport, especially since it is one of the few sports that allows all family members across age groups to practice and compete together.

The tournament attracts nearly 170 athletes from various departments, sectors, and localities in the province.

Đoàn Văn Chì, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, affirmed: “This tournament is a practical activity to encourage the sports movement in the community, creating close bonds between family members. We are very pleased with the participation from various groups, including couples, fathers and sons, and mothers and children of different ages. The strong support from the local steering committees, with nearly 170 athletes from 27 teams, shows the powerful impact of this first-ever tournament.”

The competition took place with 13 events, divided into different age groups, including husband and wife, father and son, and mother and child categories. The teams delivered exciting, intense matches following a round-robin format, with the best performers progressing to the semifinals and finals. The atmosphere at the courts was always filled with enthusiastic cheers from relatives and friends, creating a spirit of unity and warmth.

For many children, participating in a provincial-level competition for the first time was an unforgettable experience. Not only did they show determination in the competition, but they also learned teamwork, sharing, and valuable lessons from their families. Tăng Hữu Trường Phúc, a young participant from Mường Thanh ward, Điện Biên Phủ city, shared: “I feel very happy to compete with my dad. Emphasizing the role of sports in building happy families, Hà added: “Modern life often makes it difficult for family members to spend time together. Sports, especially games like pickleball, have created an invisible bridge that helps us have more shared activities, enjoy happy moments, and overcome challenges on the court. I believe families who regularly engage in sports will always be filled with positive energy and happiness.”

The first Family Pickleball Tournament in Điện Biên in 2025 ended with many unforgettable moments and beautiful memories. The success of the tournament was not only reflected in the number of athletes or exciting matches but also in the spiritual values it brought. Through sports, particularly pickleball, families had the opportunity to strengthen their relationships, nurture love, and create precious shared memories. This is clear evidence of the indispensable role of sports in building happy and healthy families.

The pickleball movement serves as an invisible thread that connects families.

This event also highlighted the strong potential for the growth of pickleball in Điện Biên, a sport suitable for all ages and highly community-oriented. With the positive effects of this tournament, it is hoped that in the future, Điện Biên will host more sports activities like this, contributing to improving the cultural, spiritual, and physical life of its people, while reinforcing the role of sports as an invisible thread that connects the hearts of every family.
