The three-day competition features 76 medal sets in Kata and Kumite (male and female) categories, showcasing the top karate athletes from northern provinces, cities, and the teams of the Vietnam People’s Army and People’s Public Security. Notably, several national team members who have achieved impressive results in regional, continental, and world tournaments are participating in the event.

In his opening remarks at the tournament, Vice Chairman of the Điện Biên provincial People’s Committee Vừ A Bằng emphasized that this event presents a valuable opportunity for athletes to exchange experiences, learn from each other, and foster solidarity, ultimately contributing to the growth of karate in Việt Nam. Furthermore, the tournament serves as a platform for discovering and recruiting young talent to join the national karate team. This year’s competition promises to deliver thrilling matches, captivating performances, and a boost to Việt Nam’s karate movement.

Vice Chairman Vừ A Bằng also expressed his hope that participants would take time to pay respects to national heroes, visit historic sites, and experience the rich cultural heritage and traditional cuisine of Điện Biên.
The 5th Northern Regional National Karate Championship will take place from March 2 to 4 at the Điện Biên provincial multi-purpose gymnasium.
