The Điện Biên district Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival is a large-scale, annual event organized by the district People’s Committee since 2012. This is an important cultural event aimed at preserving, promoting, introducing, and showcasing the distinctive cultural values and traditional sports of the 11 ethnic groups living in the district. It is also part of the series of activities under the Điện Biên provincial Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival.

Moreover, the event provides a platform for artisans, performers, and athletes to meet, exchange, and strengthen the great national unity bloc, while encouraging the collective effort of the people in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyễn Thái Bình, Chairman of the Điện Biên district People’s Committee, emphasized: “After 10 successful editions, the Điện Biên district Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival has affirmed the quality of cultural, sports, and tourism activities across the district. The preservation and promotion of outstanding cultural values, ethnic sports, folk games, and traditional festivals of local ethnic groups have been maintained and developed, contributing to enhancing the great national unity bloc and promoting the tourism potential of Điện Biên district and Điện Biên province.”

The 11th Điện Biên district Ethnic Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival in 2025 is held over three days (from March 22 to 24). This year, visitors can explore and experience various activities such as: public art festivals, traditional ethnic costume shows, xòe dance performances, community bamboo pole dances, sports competitions, folk games, and visits to exhibition booths.

In addition, there are displays and promotions of cultural and tourism products, handicrafts, agricultural products, OCOP products of the locality, as well as household items associated with the cultural life and community activities of the ethnic groups in Điện Biên district.
