The opening ceremony was attended by prominent officials, including Mr. Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; Mr. Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; Mr. Phạm Đức Toàn, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Mrs. Nguyễn Thị Hải Nhung, Director of the Department of Ethnic Minority Cultures under the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The festival commenced with a vibrant street parade featuring 1,300 performers and community members under the theme “The ethnic minority groups of Tuần Giáo heighten solidarity to steadily advance forward.” This parade symbolized the district’s unity in preserving and promoting its diverse cultural heritage while demonstrating its commitment to agricultural restructuring. The focus of this development includes cultivating and nurturing macadamia and coffee trees, which are the two key crops identified for the district’s economic growth.
At the same time, the artistic program brought a lively and colorful showcase of traditional dances, including the Xòe and Sạp, accompanied by melodies of the Khèn calling for festive gatherings. The festival also featured a reenactment of Pang Phóng, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival of Tuần Giáo, offering visitors an immersive experience of the district’s unique traditions.
A key highlight was the ethnic costume showcase, displaying the rich cultural attire of the 14 ethnic minority groups residing in Tuần Giáo. Each group presented its distinct clothing, folk songs, and cultural expressions, reinforcing the district’s identity as a vibrant cultural hub. Additionally, a dynamic DJ performance with a patriotic theme engaged thousands of youths from local high schools, energizing the festival atmosphere.
Throughout the festival, visitors and locals had a chance to participate in various cultural and recreational activities, including traditional sports competitions and folk games. Exhibition booths feature OCOP products, showcasing Tuần Giáo’s signature agricultural goods, such as macadamia nuts and coffee, along with other specialties. Tourists could also explore the Pha Đin Love Market, enjoy local cuisine, experience eco-tourism, and admire the breathtaking sunrise and sunset views at Pha Đin Pass.
The event served as a valuable opportunity for Tuần Giáo to promote its cultural heritage, tourism potential, and unique local products to visitors from across the country and abroad.
By positioning itself as a “safe, friendly, distinctive, captivating, and unforgettable destination,” the district aims to leave a lasting impression on travelers exploring the cultural and tourism landscapes of the Northwestern region.
The 2025 Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival runs from January 31 to February 1.
