In celebration of this momentous national occasion, Thanh Trường Kindergarten has launched a variety of engaging and educational activities aimed at nurturing children’s love for their homeland and pride in the nation’s heroic history. Through themed drawing contests like “Vietnam - My Homeland”, crafting and decorating national flags, making friendship bracelets with the message “Proud to be Vietnamese”, and hands-on projects such as creating binoculars or decorating nón lá (conical hats), the school has seamlessly integrated age-appropriate lessons on patriotism into everyday play.

“We place special emphasis on instilling patriotism from the very first years of life”, shared Kiều Thanh Huyền, Principal of Thanh Trường Kindergarten. “Through creative experiences, the children begin to understand the significance of April 30 - the day our country was reunited. Simple activities like coloring the national flag or singing songs about Uncle Hồ contribute to planting the seeds of love for the homeland and gratitude for those who came before us”.
Echoing this spirit, Hoa Hồng Kindergarten in Mường Thanh ward has also organized a series of meaningful activities under the thoughtful guidance of school leadership. Teachers rolled out a well-structured and imaginative plan tailored to the emotional and cognitive development of preschoolers. The children listened to stories about Vietnam’s past, played traditional folk games, sang revolutionary songs, and enthusiastically took part in hands-on tasks like coloring or crafting the national flag. The lively classroom atmosphere reflected the children’s eagerness and joy in these experiences.
Witnessing these heartfelt activities, Lê Thị Hương from Mường Thanh ward remarked: “Preschoolers may not fully grasp historical facts yet, but through such emotional and vivid experiences, they gradually develop an understanding of the value of peace and independence. The historic Great Spring Victory of 1975 marked the complete defeat of American imperialism and the liberation of the South - a milestone every generation should learn to appreciate”.

The impact of these activities goes beyond the classroom, bolstered by the guidance of local educational authorities. According to Lê Thị Hồng, Head of Điện Biên Phủ city’s Sub-department of Education and Training, schools have been proactive and innovative in commemorating the 50th anniversary of national reunification. Though the children are young, they are engaging with history in a vibrant and accessible way. This is an effective form of traditional education that helps shape character and foster patriotism from an early age.
Despite their tender age, the children have begun forming their own perceptions of history and the values of independence, sacrifice, and devotion. Touching moments abound - a child beaming with pride after completing a flag drawing, wide eyes fixed on a teacher recounting the Hồ Chí Minh Campaign, or tiny fingers carefully placing golden stars on red paper. These are powerful reflections of how the spirit of April 30 continues to resonate in young hearts.
Fifty years have passed, but the victory of April 30, 1975 remains a timeless symbol of patriotism, unity, resilience, and the Vietnamese people’s unyielding pursuit of freedom. Today, through simple yet meaningful acts in kindergartens, that spirit is being kept alive - sowing the seeds for a generation that will grow up proud, responsible, and ready to contribute to a more prosperous, civilized, and strong Vietnam.
