Alongside the distinctive cultural and artistic performances, the exhibition areas showcasing local products have become a major draw for throngs of visitors. This wide-scale promotion of provincial OCOP (One Commune One Product) items is carving out significant opportunities for consumption networking and market expansion.
The OCOP display area features numerous stalls introducing the province’s signature items, ranging from Điện Biên rice, tea, and coffee to honey, herbal remedies, and traditional handicrafts. This diverse array offers a vivid picture of the agricultural potential and unique specialties of the highlands. From the very first days, these areas have been consistently crowded with people looking to explore and shop. Many tourists have expressed great interest in directly learning about the production processes, the origins of the products, and the unique stories behind each local delicacy. These booths serve as more than just exhibition sites; they have evolved into interactive spaces connecting cooperatives and businesses with tourists, distributors, and potential partners.
“Participating in the festival is an excellent opportunity to introduce our products to visitors. We have seen a high volume of guests, many of whom have already placed orders for delivery after the festival ends,” shared Lò Thị Yến, a representative for the Hong Ky International Coffee Joint Stock Company.
The company is currently showcasing 13 product lines, many of which hold 3-star and 4-star OCOP ratings. Similarly, the Hải An Coffee Company from Mường Ảng commune is presenting five product lines. Trần Thị Thu Hải, the company’s Deputy Director, emphasized that large-scale events like the Bauhinia Flower Festival are crucial for building brand trust, as visitors can sample the products directly before they commit to a purchase.
Local government units are also playing a significant role. Mường Ảng commune maintains a booth featuring 11 specialty products from seven different economic entities, nine of which are 3 to 4-star OCOP certified. Trần Minh Giáp, Vice Chairman of the Mường Ảng commune People’s Committee, noted that these displays help tourists better understand highland specialties while providing producers a chance to gauge a larger market. He affirmed that the locality will continue to support OCOP entities in improving product quality and packaging to meet the evolving demands of consumers and tourists alike.
For returning visitors like Bùi Quang Được from Hưng Yên province, the festival is the perfect time to explore Điện Biên’s rich agricultural offerings. Having visited three times, he specifically seeks out local staples like rice, honey, and dried meat, along with iconic Northwestern spices like mắc khén and dổi. He noted that the flavors are impressive and unique, making them excellent gifts for friends and family back home.
Within the framework of the 2026 Bauhinia Flower Festival, the province has arranged 205 booths featuring 146 units, including 51 local entities and 95 from 23 other provinces and cities. Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyễn Minh Phú highlighted that each stall is not just a point of sale but a “miniature cultural space” where visitors can discover the traditional beauty and culinary heritage of different regions. Ultimately, the festival serves as a vital bridge, helping local specialties reach wider consumer markets, driving the development of the rural economy, and promoting the image of Điện Biên to a global audience.
