In the final days of the year, as the atmosphere of the Tết holiday approaches, the rhythm of life for ethnic groups in the border region of Sín Thầu becomes more vibrant. However, this also places higher demands on ensuring security and order while maintaining national territorial sovereignty. Within this context, the party committee, government, and functional forces in Sín Thầu commune have been proactively implementing synchronous solutions with a determination to keep the peace at the frontier of the Fatherland.
Sín Thầu is a border commune with a particularly important position, featuring a border line adjacent to the two neighboring countries of Laos and China with a total length of 69.074km. Clearly recognizing the role and responsibility of protecting the border, the Sín Thầu commune Party Committee has identified the task of firmly maintaining border security and national sovereignty as a continuous requirement. Implementing the strategy to protect the Fatherland in the new situation, Sín Thầu commune has increased the work of monitoring the situation of the border line and landmarks while coordinating closely with Border Posts to deploy security plans for the period before, during, and after the holiday.
Đặng Thành Huy, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Sín Thầu commune, stated that the commune Party Committee and People’s Committee have directed units to build specific plans to ensure security and order during the Tết holiday. They have also increased coordination with border guard forces and maintained the number of troops on duty for combat readiness. Furthermore, these forces coordinate to promote the patrol and control of the border line and landmarks to promptly detect and prevent violations without being passive or surprised. With the drastic involvement of the entire political system and the high responsibility of functional forces, Sín Thầu is determined to firmly maintain security and order so that the people can welcome the traditional holiday in an atmosphere of safety, prosperity, and peace.
To bring a complete joy of welcoming spring to the villagers, Mường Pồn commune focuses on maintaining security and order while protecting national border sovereignty in the area. With the synchronous involvement of the local party committee, government, and border guard forces, the work of border patrol and control has been strongly strengthened. Implementing the border protection plan for the year-end, inter-disciplinary patrol teams consisting of officers from the Mường Pồn Border Post and commune leaders have directly followed the routes and landmarks to conduct inspections of the actual status of the border line and national border markers.
During the patrol process, functional forces organize the clearing of trees to clear the line of sight and clean the area around the markers to ensure conditions for long-term management and protection. Along with landmark protection patrols, the Mường Pồn Border Post proactively builds plans to ensure security and order by focusing on preventing and fighting against types of crimes that may increase during the holiday. Border guard forces increase area control and tighten management of key routes to promptly detect and prevent illegal acts right from the border area.
Nguyễn Văn Lương, the Chairman of the Mường Pồn commune People’s Committee, affirmed that through regular and continuous patrol activities, the awareness and responsibility of officials, party members, and the people in protecting territorial sovereignty have increased significantly. The cooperative relationship between the local government and border guards is increasingly close, which contributes to consolidating the all-people border guard posture. This cooperation aims toward building a stable and peaceful Mường Pồn border area to help people enjoy spring and welcome the holiday safely.
Currently, the provincial border guards are assigned the task of managing and protecting a national border line that is 455.573km long. This includes the Vietnam - China border line which is 40.861km long and the Vietnam - Laos border line which is 414.712km long. In 2025, the situation of territorial sovereignty, border lines, landmarks, and security and order in the border area remained basically stable. The units strictly maintain the combat readiness regime, anti-aircraft duty, natural disaster prevention, and search and rescue while proactively grasping the situation of internal and external borders to promptly handle situations effectively.
Border guard foreign affairs, border gate management, and the control of entry and exit or import and export activities are maintained strictly according to regulations. The provincial border guards have built and effectively implemented professional plans in the fight against crime and legal violations while ensuring good logistics, technical, and financial work to meet the requirements of regular and unexpected tasks.
Entering 2026, especially during the period before, during, and after the 2026 Lunar New Year, the provincial border guards continue to direct units to strengthen the management and firm protection of territorial sovereignty, the national landmark system, border signs, and works on the border and at border gates. The units strictly maintain the combat readiness regime and organize guarding according to regulations while implementing security and safety plans to serve the people during the spring and holiday season. With the proactive and drastic involvement of the party committees and authorities at all levels along with the border guard forces, the work of managing and protecting the border continues to be effectively implemented to meet practical requirements.
