Tết of sharing

ĐBP - It has become a cherished tradition that every Tết holiday, authorities at all levels across Điện Biên Province carefully organize visits and gift-giving activities for policy beneficiary families, disadvantaged workers, poor and near-poor households.

These meaningful gifts not only bring joy to the recipients but also foster community bonds and spread humanitarian values.

Chairman of the provincial Party Committee’s Inspection Commission Nguyễn Sỹ Quân extends Tết greetings to Điện Biên soldier Nguyễn Công Nuôi in Mường Ảng Town (Mường Ảng District).

As Tết Ất Tỵ 2025 approaches, Mr. Nguyễn Công Nuôi, a resident of Mường Ảng Town (Mường Ảng District), turns 93 years old. Despite his age, he remains sharp. Recently, when welcoming a delegation of provincial and district leaders and organizations visiting and extending New Year’s wishes, he warmly recognized each visitor. “Every year, you all come to visit, and I am truly grateful. At my age, just being remembered is something to cherish and appreciate,” he shared.

In preparation for the New Year, authorities, political-social organizations, agencies, and enterprises have implemented numerous activities to support policy beneficiary families, revolution contributors, students, and disadvantaged people.

According to Mr. Đào Duy Thạch, Head of the Mường Ảng District Department of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, early planning ensured that support reached those in need. “Beyond gifts provided by the Central and provincial authorities, the district has also distributed additional gifts to poor households, disadvantaged students, and vulnerable individuals,” he stated.

Enterprises across the province are also actively supporting their employees. The Điện Biên Cement Joint Stock Company, one of the province’s major businesses, prioritizes both the material and spiritual well-being of its employees. Apart from standard State-mandated benefits, the company provides Tết bonuses to motivate them after a year of hard work.

Mr. Quàng Văn Hóa, a long-time employee of the Điện Biên Cement Joint Stock Company from Sam Mứn Commune (Điện Biên District), shared: “Every year, the company offers Tết bonuses to us. Depending on job position and salary levels, each employee receives an equivalent amount. This is a great encouragement, helping us feel secure in our work and have extra funds for Tết shopping.”

To support workers, the provincial Labor Federation organized events within the “Tết Sum Vầy - Xuân Ơn Đảng” and “Trade Union Tết Market 2025” programs. These initiatives distributed 3,000 gift packages, 6,000 discount shopping vouchers, 100 zero-cost shopping vouchers, and 100 travel tickets for workers returning home for the traditional holiday.

According to Mr. Tẩn Minh Long, Chairman of the provincial Labor Federation, trade unions at all levels have implemented numerous initiatives to care for workers’ lives. These Tết gifts not only bring joy but also provide motivation for workers to overcome difficulties, fulfill their duties, ensure political security, maintain social order, and contribute to the province’s socio-economic development.

With the aim that every household welcomes a warm and joyous Tết, by the end of 2024, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Điện Biên Province launched a fundraising campaign to support Tết for the poor and respected community figures. Additionally, from the “For the poor” fund, nearly VNĐ 7 billion was allocated in early December 2024 to support the construction of gratitude houses for 139 poor and near-poor households in border villages. With a support level of VNĐ 50 million per household, families would have additional financial resources to complete their homes in time to celebrate Tết in a new living space.

Caring for policy beneficiary families, poor and near-poor households, and disadvantaged students is not only an act of kindness but also a reflection of the Vietnamese spirit of solidarity and compassion. Though modest, each gift carries immense meaning, bringing joy and hope to its recipients. Each gift granted not only ensures a warmer Tết but also conveys heartfelt wishes for a prosperous, peaceful, and joyful New Year.
