Painting contest joins hands in protecting forests and environment

ĐBP - The drawing competition with the theme “Joining hands to protect forests and the environment for a green future” has become a meaningful activity, attracting the interest and enthusiastic participation of a large number of students. With creative ideas and an innocent perspective, they express their love for nature and their awareness of environmental protection through each vivid and colorful brushstroke.

Following the success of drawing competitions over the past two years, the Forest Protection and Development Fund recently coordinated with the Na Sang commune People’s Committee and secondary schools in the area to organize a drawing competition with the theme “Joining hands to protect forests and the environment for a green future.” The competition attracted a large number of students from grades 6 to 9 from four schools: Na Sang No.1 Secondary School, Na Sang Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Secondary School, Ma Thì Hồ Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Secondary School, and Sa Lông Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Secondary School. Through handmade drawings on A3 paper, the students expressed their creativity and sent meaningful messages about the role of forests in protecting the environment, responding to climate change, and calling on everyone to join hands in taking practical actions for a green planet.

Student Phạm Hồng Liên from class 9A1 (Na Sang No.1 Secondary School) presents the meaning of her drawing to the competition’s jury.

Inspired by the recent storms and floods, student Phạm Hồng Liên from class 9A1 (Na Sang No.1 Secondary School) drew a picture titled “Protecting the green forest - Preserving life.” The picture is divided into two distinct contrasting parts: On one side is an image of devastated forests, with raging fires and black smoke covering everything, houses in ruins, and people struggling in the floodwaters. The felled tree stumps serve as a powerful warning about the consequences of deforestation and climate change. In contrast to that scene, the right side of the picture opens up to a world full of hope. A large, ancient tree reaches high, a clear stream flows through a lush green land, and a small family is planting trees and caring for the forest together, a symbol of human connection and a sense of responsibility towards nature.

Sharing her feelings, Hồng Liên confided: “In the process of drawing, I understood even more deeply the great value of the forest to human life. The tragic images caused by storms, floods, forest fires, and landslides made me realize that nature is being hurt every day by our own actions. I hope my drawing will contribute a small voice, helping people to love and be more conscious of protecting the environment.”

Using a similar composition to Hồng Liên’s drawing, the work of student Nông Thái Bảo Hân from class 6A1 at Na Sang No.1 Secondary School is also divided into two parts, separated by a small river. On the left, she depicts a devastated forest: fallen trees, animals like deer and rabbits losing their habitat, arid land, and severe natural disasters and climate change. On the right are bright colors, showing positive actions to protect the environment: a teacher and students planting trees together, caring for the forest, and promoting awareness of nature protection. The image of students from many different ethnic groups joining hands sends a profound message about the spirit of unity, the love for the forest, and the determination to keep the Earth green.

Student Nông Thái Bảo Hân from class 6A1, Na Sang No.1 Secondary School, presents her drawing.

“Participating in this competition, I not only learned how to express my ideas through art but also learned about my own responsibility towards the Earth, the common home for all of us. I hope that from small actions like planting a tree or picking up a piece of trash, everyone can contribute to making the world more beautiful day by day,” Bảo Hân expressed.

The drawing competition with the theme “Joining hands to protect forests and the environment for a green future” has attracted a large number of students, creating a vibrant and exciting atmosphere in schools. Through their lively and creative drawings, the students have shown their awareness, love for nature, and their aspiration to contribute to protecting a green, clean, and beautiful living environment.

Ly Thị Sinh, a student in class 8A1 at Ma Thì Hồ Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Secondary School, shared: “I am very honored to participate in this drawing competition. Through my picture, I want to send the message to let’s protect the forest and preserve the environment together so that life will always be beautiful.”

The Organizing Committee judges the paintings in the final round.

The competition is not only a useful playground but also contributes to educating and awakening a sense of responsibility in the young generation for protecting forests and the environment. Through each drawing, the students have raised their awareness of the role and significance of forests in life, and at the same time, have had the opportunity to express their artistic talent and their love for nature and their homeland. This activity has also created an exciting learning atmosphere, spreading the message of green living and joining hands to preserve a sustainable environment for the future.

Ms. Cao Thị Oanh, Principal of Ma Thì Hồ Ethnic Minority Semi-Boarding Secondary School, said: “The school always focuses on communicating, disseminating, and organizing for students to actively participate in competitions on forest and environmental protection. Thanks to the guidance and encouragement of the teachers, the students not only practice their artistic talents but also enhance their awareness and form a spirit of responsibility towards nature and life.”

With the active and responsible spirit of the Na Sang Commune Office of Culture and Social Affairs, the secondary schools, teachers, and parents have coordinated closely in organizing, communicating, and guiding students to participate in the competition with high efficiency. As a result, the Organizing Committee received more than 1,861 entries from secondary schools in the commune. Many works showed creative ideas, harmonious colors, and clear messages, demonstrating the students’ deep understanding and affection for the forest, the environment, and nature.

The most outstanding paintings are honored at the competition.

Mr. Trần Xuân Tâm, Deputy Director of the provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund, stated: “The result of the competition is not just the awards, but also the spread of a love for the forest and an awareness of environmental protection to the younger generation and the community. I believe that through this competition, the students will become young communicators contributing to the local work of forest protection and development. In the coming time, the Forest Protection and Development Fund will continue to coordinate with sectors and localities to organize more practical and effective communication and educational activities on forest protection awareness in schools and the community.”

The drawing competition with the theme “Joining hands to protect forests and the environment for a green future” at the secondary schools in Na Sang commune has come to a close, but the echo and meaning of the activity still resonate deeply in the hearts of teachers, students, and the community. Each picture is a meaningful message about the love for nature, a reminder of the responsibility to preserve the greenness of the forest and to protect the living environment. And more than that, the competition has contributed to forming “little ambassadors” in communication and action for the environment, opening up faith and hope for a young generation that knows how to appreciate, love, and join hands to protect a green future.
