The People’s Committee of Dien Bien District has successfully organized the program “Whole-People Border Festive Day” and “Border spring warms up people’s hearts” in 2025. The event drew the participation of border posts stationed in the district, along with a large number of officials and residents from the two communes of Pa Thơm and Thanh Chăn.
Reportedly, over the past 10 years, Điện Biên District has thoroughly and effectively promoted the nationwide movement for people to participate in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the 2015-2025 period, following the Directive No.01/CT-TTg by the Prime Minister.
The awareness of the public of this issue has significantly improved. The relations between residents and armed forces, as well as various agencies and organizations, have been increasingly strengthened and developed.
Border posts stationed in the district have well played its core role in making proposals to local Party organizations and authorities of Pa Thơm and Thanh Chăn Communes in implementing national defense and security tasks in general, and the Directive No.01/CT-TTg in particular, in accordance with the actual conditions of the district.
In the two communes, there are 10 organizations, 53 households, and 68 individuals volunteered to manage 34.962km of the borderline, 6 border markers and 6 stakes. Additionally, there are 22 self-management teams with 82 members registered to join hands in maintaining social order and security in their villages and hamlets.
Since 2015, the units have coordinated with functional forces to conduct 186 patrols with 2,046 participants, including 26 bilateral patrols with 568 participants... Members of the self-management teams and local people have provided border guards, police and military forces of communes with 548 pieces of information, of which 180 were vital in helping local authorities and border posts grasp the situation and promptly address any circumstances. These activities have contributed to ensuring political security and social order across the district, especially in border areas.
The People’s Committee of Điện Biên District and the two communes’ authorities have recognized and honored 9 exemplary collectives and individuals for their significant contributions over the 10 years of implementing the Directive No.01/CT-TTg.
To concretize the Party’s guidelines and the State’s policies on caring for the people during the upcoming 2025 Lunar New Year (Tết) holiday, nearly 80 meaningful gifts were distributed to policy families, poor households, and impoverished students. Additionally, over 200 residents, mainly the elderly, received free health check-ups, health consultations, and medicines.
In addition, activities such as artistic exchanges, traditional sports competitions, and “bánh chưng” wrapping contest contributed to bringing a joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere, strengthening the bond between border guards and local people.
