More than ten days ago, Pu Nhi commune received and officially handed over infrastructure support projects for Tìa Ló A and Tìa Ló B community-based tourism villages. With a total investment of over VND 7 billion, the project includes several key components, such as a cultural exhibition house and tourism information center, upgraded walking paths, lighting and sound systems, an improved cultural house courtyard, and supporting facilities.
To date, most of the project components have been completed and put into operation, contributing to an improved rural landscape and creating favorable conditions for the development of community-based tourism associated with the New Rural Development Program.
While guiding us through the newly completed facilities, Vừ Sĩ Di, Secretary of the Party Cell of Tìa Ló A village, enthusiastically introduced the village’s tourism potential: “The Tù Lu - Tìa Ló community-based tourism village is located on a route connecting ecological tourism destinations such as Noong U Lake and Phù Lồng Peak, making it convenient for visitors to explore, experience local culture, and stop for relaxation. This infrastructure investment provides better conditions for welcoming tourists and creates additional motivation for local residents to develop tourism while preserving their ethnic cultural identity.”
Tù Lu - Tìa Ló is also a place where many distinctive cultural traditions of the Mông ethnic group have been preserved. In the coming years, traditional brocade costumes, folk songs, the sounds of the khèn and bamboo flute, as well as traditional cuisine will continue to be safeguarded and promoted.
With support from the project, many households have gradually renovated their homes in accordance with traditional architectural styles, while also developing landscaped areas and rest stops to create attractive spaces for visitors. Check-in spots and homestay services are gradually taking shape, opening up new economic opportunities for local residents.
Operating a grocery shop at the entrance to the village, Lò Văn Chiển from Tìa Ló A village expressed his expectation that investment in community-based tourism would bring new opportunities to local people. He shared: “We are very pleased that the village has received investment in tourism infrastructure. We hope that more visitors will come to explore and experience our local culture in the future. As tourist numbers increase, local people will have more opportunities to earn income through trade and tourism services, while also having better conditions to preserve and promote our traditional cultural values.”
As an active participant in community activities, Chá A Mua, Head of the Village Fatherland Front Committee of Tìa Ló A village, believes that the development of community-based tourism is not only important for economic growth but also plays a significant role in preserving ethnic cultural heritage.
Mua said: “We consider this a highly meaningful model because it helps preserve the cultural identity of the Mông people while creating opportunities for local residents to improve their livelihoods. Traditional costumes, household and farming tools, as well as our valuable customs and practices, will be preserved and introduced to visitors. Local people are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of environmental sanitation and improving their homes in order to create a positive image in the eyes of tourists.”
Investment in infrastructure has helped improve tourism facilities while opening up new livelihood opportunities for local residents. Instead of relying entirely on agriculture, many households can participate in tourism-related services such as accommodation, food and beverage businesses, handicraft sales, and the organization of cultural experience activities.
This development supports a model of green tourism and experiential tourism, allowing visitors to explore the unique cultural life of the Mông people amid the mountains and forests of Northwestern Vietnam. In addition to infrastructure support, the Tù Lu - Tìa Ló community-based tourism village will receive assistance in tourism management, hospitality skills, destination promotion, and connections with tourism routes and tour operators.
According to Nguyễn Đình Minh, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Pu Nhi commune: “In the coming period, the commune will continue to strengthen awareness campaigns and encourage local people to participate in community-based tourism development. At the same time, we will proactively propose that agencies, departments, and relevant authorities continue providing financial support and professional guidance so that residents can develop tourism services in a more professional manner, thereby ensuring the effective and sustainable development of Tù Lu - Tìa Ló community-based tourism.”
With these newly completed projects, a new image is gradually emerging in the Tù Lu - Tìa Ló community-based tourism village. Clean and attractive roads, well-developed community spaces, and traditional houses are creating a fresh appeal for the area.
Support in infrastructure, tourism skills, hospitality knowledge, and visitor attraction strategies is providing local residents with greater confidence and motivation to invest in community-based tourism. With the support of authorities at all levels and the determination of local people, Tù Lu - Tìa Ló is steadily becoming an attractive destination, contributing to economic development while preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Northwestern highlands.
