This increase in allowances is expected to be a significant motivator, enabling these forces to fulfill their responsibilities more effectively in the evolving context.
Following Decree No.16/2025/ND-CP dated February 4, 2025, which amends and supplements certain provisions of Decree No.72/2020/ND-CP on the organization, development, and policies for militia and self-defense forces, and based on Proposal No.3187/TTr-UBND dated July 1, 2025, submitted by the Provincial People’s Committee, the Provincial People’s Council approved the resolution on revised allowance rates. Accordingly, the monthly allowance for village militia leaders has been raised from VND 745,000 to VND 1,170,000. This group plays a vital role in advising grassroots Party committees and implementing defense and military tasks in villages, directly commanding local militias, and coordinating in implementing policies for military personnel and their families.
Lò Văn Thảnh, a village militia leader in Sam Mứn village, Thanh An commune, has consistently fulfilled his assigned responsibilities. He actively participates in training, natural disaster response, search and rescue operations, forest fire prevention, and mobilizes eligible youth for military service, while also working closely with other forces to maintain local security and order. Sharing his thoughts, he expressed joy and gratitude upon learning about the resolution’s approval, saying that the increased support would further strengthen his commitment to the role and inspire him to strive for excellence in his duties.

In terms of daily allowances, the amount for militia members assigned tasks by competent authorities has risen from VND 149,000 to VND 327,600 per day. In cases where militia members are required to extend their service beyond the standard term as approved by authorities, they will receive an additional 50% of the current daily allowance. Similarly, in high-risk tasks such as anti-terrorism, hostage rescue, crime suppression, crowd control, epidemic response, disaster recovery, and firefighting in life-threatening areas, the allowance will also be increased by 50%.
In border communes like Nà Hỳ, the guiding motto “Wherever needed, the militia is there” continues to define the mission and actions of local self-defense forces. These forces, stationed across all villages, work closely with other agencies to maintain stability and public order, thereby fostering conditions conducive to socio-economic development and sustainable poverty reduction. Beyond regular training, they proactively monitor local conditions, identify emerging issues, and report to Party and government leaders for timely resolution, preventing unforeseen complications.
Thào A Dia, Commander of the commune Military Command, affirmed that the resolution reflects the Party and State’s attention to the local militia forces, thereby helping to harness human resources in defense and military operations. Always ready to respond, especially in remote and border areas, the militia and self-defense forces are willing to take on challenges, often leading community-based activities, disaster relief efforts, and the eradication of temporary and dilapidated housing.
Nguyễn Minh Tuân, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sính Phình commune, highlighted the importance of the increased allowances, especially under the current heightened demands. In a newly established commune still facing many difficulties, the militia not only fulfills military tasks but also plays a key role in civil affairs. With stable financial support, these forces are better positioned to remain committed and carry out their roles more effectively.
Ultimately, the adoption of this resolution on allowances is both necessary and timely. It recognizes the wide-ranging contributions of local militia and self-defense forces, not only in maintaining readiness and security but also in spearheading grassroots initiatives and addressing the most challenging local needs. These forces have truly become a solid pillar in rural communities, helping to ensure security, protect national borders, and foster sustainable socio-economic progress in the province.
