Điện Biên authorities honour fallen heroes at Côn Đảo landmarks

ĐBP - A delegation from Điện Biên Province on Sunday visited and paid respects at memorial sites and historical landmarks in Côn Đảo District, Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu Province on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947-2024).

Provincial leaders and delegation members respectfully pay tribute at the tomb of General Secretary Lê Hồng Phong.

The delegation, led by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vừ A Bằng, offered flowers and incense at Hàng Dương and Hàng Keo cemeteries, showing their gratitude for the immense sacrifices of the fallen heroes.

The delegation offers incense at the grave of heroine Võ Thị Sáu.

Hàng Dương cemetery holds special significance as part of the National Monument - Côn Đảo prison, where thousands of soldiers rest, having sacrificed for the nation's independence, freedom, and the people's happiness.

Hàng Keo cemetery is the final resting place for approximately 10,000 heroes who courageously sacrificed for the nation's independence.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, Giàng Thị Hoa, pays homage to the heroic martyrs.

The delegation then visited the tomb of former General Secretary Lê Hồng Phong, the grave of heroine Võ Thị Sáu and various other martyr graves.

During the visit, leaders of Điên Biên Province reiterated their dedication to preserving revolutionary traditions, patriotism, and national pride. They emphasised the significance of responsibility, self-reliance, resilience, and national unity in ensuring the homeland's prosperity, civility, and sustainable development.

On the same day, the delegation also visited other historical sites and landmarks in Côn Đảo District. They also donated VNĐ20 million to the gratitude and responsibility fund of Côn Đảo District.
