By supporting producers in refining their production processes, improving packaging, and elevating product standards, the OCOP program is gradually becoming a powerful engine for rural economic growth. To ensure the program's success, the commune has directed local villages to shift their crop structures toward higher quality and efficiency linked to commodity production, while actively encouraging residents to transform unique local specialties into certified OCOP goods.
To date, Tuần Giáo has successfully developed 17 OCOP products, including 15 three-star and 2 four-star certifications. The majority of these items are processed from the commune's two primary crops: macadamia and coffee. Some standout products include Hồng Kỳ International Coffee HK13, Arabica Espresso (HK10 whole bean coffee), Việt Hà macadamia, Thoa Quang split-shell roasted macadamia, and Thoa Doãn crispy roasted macadamia kernels.
The Thoa Quang macadamia business in Minh Thắng village serves as a prime example of this success. Since receiving a three-star OCOP certification for its split-shell roasted macadamia, the business has seen a significant boost in brand recognition and value. Quàng Thị Thoa, the owner, shared that annual sales jumped from four tons to over six tons following the certification. The family is now investing in modern machinery and refining production processes to improve competitiveness. They have even registered a new macadamia wine product to diversify their offerings and provide stable income for family members and local laborers.
For the 2026–2030 period, Tuần Giáo aims to add at least 16 more OCOP products rated three stars or higher, with a heavy focus on macadamia and coffee derivatives. To realize this goal, the commune is proactively zoning concentrated raw material areas and ensuring they are granted official growing area codes. These areas will be managed under VietGAP, organic, or similar specialized quality standards to meet the demanding requirements of modern consumers.
The commune is also intensifying the transfer of scientific and technical knowledge to help farmers apply advanced production methods that increase yields while lowering costs. A major part of the strategy involves strengthening agricultural cooperatives to act as central hubs connecting farmers, businesses, and distributors throughout the value chain. By attracting investment into deep-processing facilities, such as roasting, shell removal, and oil or butter extraction, the commune hopes to create a sustainable link that ensures stable outlets and high added value for local staples.
Efforts to build the Tuần Giáo brand for macadamia and coffee are being paired with active trade promotion. This includes organizing fairs and connecting cooperatives with distributors to place products in supermarkets, clean agricultural stores, and on e-commerce platforms. The ultimate ambition is to move beyond domestic borders and enter international markets.
Quàng Văn Cương, Chairman of the Tuần Giáo commune People’s Committee, noted that the OCOP program has fundamentally shifted the local production mindset from a focus on quantity to a focus on quality, and from raw materials to deep processing. He emphasized that each certified product acts as a “passport,” allowing the unique specialties of Tuần Giáo to reach further, expand their market presence, and significantly increase their economic value.
