By leveraging its combined potential and the positive results of existing models, Sáng Nhè has focused on mobilizing residents to restructure upland crops toward higher-value varieties. The goal is to improve economic efficiency, increase household incomes, and promote sustainable agricultural development.
Currently, Sáng Nhè has 365 hectares of macadamia, nearly 249 hectares of coffee, and dozens of hectares of mango, jackfruit, amomum, and other fruit trees. Part of the macadamia, coffee, and fruit areas have already entered harvest, yielding economic results many times higher than traditional upland crops such as maize, cassava, and rice.

In 2020, Chảo A Cấu from Đề Tâu Hamlet boldly converted two hectares of upland fields into lemongrass and another 1.5 hectares into macadamia. Today, all of his land is under harvest. For lemongrass, he invested in an essential oil processing workshop, producing 50-60 kilograms of oil annually, worth nearly VND 40 million. His macadamia garden has just begun producing its first harvest, yielding nearly 100 kilograms of fresh nuts this season, bringing in over VND 2.5 million. The returns are expected to grow significantly in the coming years. He affirmed that crop restructuring has opened new economic opportunities for his family, improving income and stability, and he plans to gradually replace his remaining maize and upland rice with macadamia.
Meanwhile, Hạng A Chẩu from Pá Ỏ hamlet has utilized forested land to grow amomum under the canopy. He has planted over 3,000 amomum trees, generating an annual income of VND 30-40 million since 2021, ensuring greater stability for his household. He explained that amomum requires little labor and investment but offers high economic returns. He intends to rehabilitate his current plantation to raise productivity and plant an additional 2,000 trees, while also converting part of his upland fields to macadamia after observing its success in nearby villages.

The First Congress of the Sáng Nhè commune Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term set a resolution to continue restructuring upland crops toward high-value industrial crops such as macadamia, coffee, and amomum. The commune aims to reach 614 hectares of macadamia and 517 hectares of coffee by 2030, gradually forming one of the province’s concentrated macadamia and coffee production zones.
According to Phạm Ngọc Điện, Chairman of the Sáng Nhè commune People’s Committee, the immediate priority is to review and assess the current status of all macadamia and coffee plantations, especially in the former Phình Sáng area. Based on this, the commune will identify appropriate sub-regions by soil and climate for rational zoning. Alongside zoning, Sáng Nhè is promoting awareness campaigns to help farmers understand the superior economic benefits of new crops compared with traditional ones, and is organizing model visits and exchanges to build farmers’ confidence.

The commune is also coordinating closely with technical agencies to ensure the supply of high-quality seedlings suited to local conditions, while providing technical training on cultivation, intensive farming, and pest control. It encourages enterprises and cooperatives to engage in production linkages, secure product consumption, and build value chains from cultivation through to processing.
In addition, Sáng Nhè is working with banks and credit institutions to help farmers access preferential loans and is guiding intercropping with short-term crops to ensure income stability during the establishment phase of new plantations.
With clear and concrete orientations, Sáng Nhè regards agricultural restructuring as a central mission, a driving force for developing commodity-based production, increasing added value, and promoting sustainable growth. The ultimate goal is to improve incomes, stabilize livelihoods, and achieve new rural development targets.
