Subregions such as the Điện Biên valley (including the districts of Điện Biên and Điện Biên Đông, and Điện Biên Phủ City), the Tuần Giáo area (Tuần Giáo, Tủa Chùa, and Mường Ảng Districts), and the Mường Lay area (Mường Nhé, Nậm Pồ, Mường Chà Districts, and Mường Lay Town) have issued a forest fire danger level IV warning within the entire week.
Considering the prolonged dry weather conditions, the provincial Forest Protection Branch urges relevant units to strictly implement directives on forest fire prevention and fighting. Forest protection stations, ranger teams, and forest owners are required to adhere to the regulations outlined in Dispatch No.1356/CĐ-UBND, dated April 5, 2024 by the Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and the Forest Protection Department’s Official Letter No.42/KL-QLR, dated January 15, 2025, regarding forest protection before, during, and after the 2025 Lunar New Year (Tết) holiday.
Units need to use the forest fire danger index to identify high risk areas and monitor warning information on the website of the Forest Protection Department (www.kiemlam.org.vn) to promptly detect and handle fires.
Forest fire prevention and fighting forces at the commune, village, and hamlet levels must be on duty 24/7, prepare response plans and equipment in according to the “four on-the-spots” principle (on-the-spot command, on-the-spot forces, on-the-spot equipment and supplies, on-the-spot logistics). If necessary, localities may establish checkpoints at forest entrances to reduce the risk of fire spread.
The provincial Forest Protection Branch requests that agencies, units, and residents raise awareness about forest fire prevention and protection amidst the high risk of forest fires in the coming days.
