These efforts have gradually brought about positive changes in awareness and action among authorities at all levels, sectors, local communities, and residents in forest protection and development.
Moving beyond traditional communication methods, the provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund has proactively signed 10 communication contracts with central and local newspapers, magazines, and television outlets to ensure wider outreach of forest environmental policies.
According to the Fund’s leadership, in 2025 alone, this communication approach resulted in 24 television reports, 32 news items, and 58 in-depth articles. These pieces comprehensively reflected the implementation of the PFES policy, the effectiveness of forest protection efforts, as well as successful grassroots models and good practices.
The wide range of media products provided timely and diverse coverage of the Fund’s activities, the rollout of the PFES policy, and forest protection and development across the province. As a result, people have gained a clearer understanding of their rights and responsibilities in forest protection and have become more aware of the tangible benefits that PFES brings to livelihoods, especially in highland areas and ethnic minority communities.
To further diversify communication efforts, in October, the provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund coordinated the organization of two drawing contests themed “Joining hands to protect forests and the environment for a green future” for lower secondary school students in Na Sang and Tuần Giáo communes.
Hundreds of entries vividly reflected the students’ fresh and creative perspectives on nature, forests, and the living environment. Through these activities, messages about forest protection were conveyed not only through words, but also through images, emotions, and the students’ own voices.
Winning the special prize was a painting by Nguyễn Đức Vĩnh, a grade 7A1 student at Quài Cang Secondary School in Tuần Giáo commune. His artwork delivered a powerful message on environmental protection and the preservation of life. Vĩnh shared that his painting depicts activities such as tree planting and litter collection alongside images of lush green forests where wildlife thrives. Through his artwork, he hopes to send a message encouraging everyone to work together to protect forests so that local communities can live in peace.
Integrating forest protection themes into extracurricular activities such as drawing competitions helps students absorb and retain knowledge more easily. This approach has been widely recognized as an effective and far reaching form of communication. Vũ Thị Duyên, Vice Principal of Quài Cang Secondary School in Tuần Giáo commune, noted that each painting tells a small story, reflecting students’ thoughts, feelings, and aspirations for protecting forests and the environment. Through the contest, students not only develop their creativity but also gain a deeper understanding of the role of forests, allowing awareness of forest protection to form naturally and sustainably.
Alongside these communication initiatives, the provincial Forest Protection and Development Fund has also diversified outreach products closely linked to people’s daily lives. Over the past year, the Fund distributed 237 handbooks, 170 document folders, 146 baseball caps, 114 waste-sorting bins, 140 crossbody bags, and 51 thermal flasks, as well as 5,000 wall calendars and 1,000 desk calendars for 2026. All items were designed with images and messages promoting forest and environmental protection, helping PFES messages remain a constant presence in people’s daily activities, work, and production.
These renewed and diversified communication approaches aim not only to deliver one-way information, but also to build consensus and gradually change community awareness and behavior. When people understand that protecting forests also means safeguarding their own livelihoods and living environment, forest conservation becomes a voluntary action. In practice, many localities have seen communities actively coordinate with functional forces in forest patrols and protection, helping curb illegal logging and forest encroachment, and preserving the green canopy of the forests.
