Major Hồ A Chu’s family lives in Chiêu Ly village, Na Sang commune. He and his wife, along with their three young children, reside with his elderly, frail parents who are no longer able to work. Due to the nature of his duties, he frequently works far from home. For many years, the entire family lived in a three-bay wooden house erected over 20 years ago. Time took its toll, leaving the roof degraded, termite-infested, and leaking in many places whenever it rained. The desire for a solid shelter providing stable accommodations for elderly parents and young children was always a lingering worry in the hearts of Chu and his wife.
From the assistance of the “Comradeship House” program deployed by the Military Command of Điện Biên province, that dream has become a reality. After just over a month of construction, a spacious, sturdy wooden-frame house spanning 130m² was completed with total expenditure of VND 380 million. Of this, VND 80 million was funded by Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), with the remainder covered by family savings. Notably, throughout the construction process, cadres and soldiers from Major Chu’s unit alongside local residents contributed numerous workdays, joining hands to accelerate progress.
For Major Hồ A Chu’s family, this serves as a solid foundation ensuring elderly parents have a safe residence, children enjoy improved living conditions, and the couple can perform their assigned tasks with peace of mind.
Sharing that same joy, in Nà Nếnh village, Phình Giàng commune, the family of Captain Mùa A Cảy, Deputy Political Officer of the Military Command of Phình Giàng commune, also received “Comradeship House” support after many years of living in a dilapidated single-story home. Cảy’s wife currently lacks stable employment, while their three-year-old child suffers from congenital heart disease, requiring regular care. Constrained family finances meant constructing a solid house was beyond their means.
From the program’s financial support, combined with joint efforts from family and the locality, that dream gradually came true. In addition to the VND 80 million grant, Captain Mùa A Cảy’s family provided reciprocal funding of VND 270 million to build the home. The Party committee, local administration, and people of Nà Nếnh village, along with the militia and self-defense forces of Phình Giàng commune, also contributed 35 workdays of labor.
At the end of September 2026, the 54m² level-4 single-story home was completed. On handover day, joy spread not only through Cảy’s family, but to relatives and fellow villagers. From early morning, many arrived to share the celebration and congratulate the family on securing stable housing.
Implementing the policy of caring for the lives of cadres and soldiers, in 2026, the Military Command of Điện Biên province continued deploying “Comradeship House” construction support pursuant to decisions by Military Region 2, funded by Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB). In 2026, three families received support: Major Hồ A Chu, Captain Mùa A Cảy, and Non-commissioned Lieutenant Vừ A Hùng. Each house received VND 80 million in assistance, aiming to help servicemen facing housing hardships promptly stabilize their lives. This initiative also represents a practical deed celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Military Region 2’s Armed Forces (October 19, 1946 - 2026).
Earlier in 2025, funded by the “For the Poor” Fund under the Ministry of National Defense, the Military Command of Điện Biên province supported the construction of six “Comradeship Houses” with a support rate of VND 60 million per house. In total across 2025-2026, the unit facilitated the construction of nine “Comradeship Houses.”
As one of the three families of cadres and soldiers assisted with a “Comradeship House” by the Military Command of Điện Biên province in 2026, Non-commissioned Lieutenant Vừ A Hùng serves at Defensive Area Command Region 4-Mường Ảng and currently resides in Trung Dình village, Pú Nhung commune. His family of five relies primarily on his salary. Limited economic conditions prevented his family from repairing their house. The timely assistance of the “Comradeship House” program has provided Hùng’s family with added resources to improve their living quarters, reflecting the unit’s timely care and solidarity toward the circumstances of cadres and soldiers.
Every completed comradeship house owes its existence not only to financial aid, but to the collective efforts of local Party committees, administrations, cadres, soldiers, and citizens. From monetary contributions to labor workdays, all joined hands to help military families attain stable housing early. The significance of the “Comradeship House” program reverberates across the military, serving not only to share difficulties with cadres and soldiers, but tightening close bonds between the army and the people.
“Each comradeship house presented to cadres and soldiers carries not only material value, but spreads a spirit of solidarity, mutual assistance, and comradeship. In the coming period, we will continue implementing appropriate support activities so that every cadre and soldier clearly perceives the care and empathy of their unit toward themselves and their families, thereby feeling assured in their work and striving to fulfill assigned tasks with excellence,” shared Lieutenant Colonel Đặng Văn Kiều, Head of the Mass Mobilization Board under the Military Command of Điện Biên province.
The “Comradeship Houses” built in Điện Biên are not merely social welfare assistance works, but living proof of the Army rear-echelon policy and the organization’s responsibility toward those performing duties day and night. From newly erected roofs, camaraderie, comradeship, and military-civilian solidarity continue to be nurtured, consolidating the people’s heart-and-mind posture and generating momentum for the armed forces of Điện Biên province to fulfill national defense missions in the new situation.
