According to the People’s Committee of Mường Lay Town, the 'Floating Water Season' event will run from October 2024 until the end of March 2025. The event will feature three main activities: the opening ceremony of the Floating Water Season Tourism on the Đà River on October 26, 2024; the 10th Annual Én Tail Boat Racing Festival; and the 5th National Paragliding Championship for Clubs from December 31, 2024, to January 5, 2025. Other experience-driven activities include jet skiing, powered paragliding, and paragliding flights.
During this time, visitors can engage in various tourism-promotion activities, such as exploring the lake area, fishing experiences, camping, and immersing themselves in cultural experiences within traditional Thai ethnic villages. They can also visit historical sites like Bản Bắc Cave, Pú Vạp, and Lai Châu Prison, and take part in trekking tours to explore scenic trails, ancient forests, and terraced fields in mountain villages.
Additional hands-on experiences include Én Tail Boat Racing, making traditional snacks like Khẩu Xén and Chí Chọp, preparing oil-marinated fish, crafting rattan chairs, and making Tính lutes.
The committee announced that it has finalised the event plan, established an organising committee, and formed subcommittees with clearly defined responsibilities for each member unit. The People’s Committees of local wards and related agencies are actively preparing for the event in line with their designated roles.
Mường Lay Town is focusing on public communication, enhancing urban aesthetics, and mobilising resources to ensure all activities provide visitors with an enjoyable and memorable experience, according to the committee.
