Standing Committee of Điện Biên Provincial People's Council holds October meeting

ĐBP – The Standing Committee of Điện Biên Province’s People’s Council on Friday held its October meeting, focusing on preparing for the emergency and year-end regular sessions in 2024.

Lò Văn Phương, Member of the Điện Biên Provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, presided over the meeting. Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, also attended.

Delegates discussed and provided input on the programme, agenda, timing, and assigned responsibilities for preparing the 16th session (an emergency session) and the 17th session (the regular year-end session) of the Provincial People’s Council of the 15th tenure for the 2021–2026 period.

The committee reviewed the allocation of oversight responsibilities for legal documents issued by the Provincial People's Committee and the People's Councils of districts, towns, and cities, in effect from January 1, 2004, to December 31, 2023.

During the meeting, delegates also examined and approved monitoring reports on the implementation of national target programmes, including the New Rural Development Programme for the period of 2021–2025), Sustainable Poverty Reduction Programme for the period of 2021–2025, and socio-economic development initiatives in ethnic minority and mountainous areas for the period of 2021–2025 in Điện Biên Province.

They also reviewed progress on projects within the economic recovery and development program for the healthcare sector, as well as the monthly report for October and the priority tasks for November 2024.

Chairman Lò Văn Phương instructed the Office of the Provincial People's Council and Council Committees to adequately prepare for both the emergency and year-end regular sessions in 2024. He emphasised the importance of enhancing the review process for documents presented at the sessions.

He also directed the completion of several key tasks in November, including specialised monitoring activities as scheduled, strengthening monitoring and field assessments on the implementation of Provincial People's Council resolutions, and making necessary arrangements for representatives to engage with voters before and after the year-end regular session in 2024.
