ĐBP - The Mường Thanh Walking Street officially opened on the evening of March 7, offering residents and tourists a wealth of unique experiences and specialized services right in the heart of Điện Biên province.

The opening ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam, and Tạ Thị Yên, Vice Chairwoman of the Board for Deputy Affairs of the 15th National Assembly.

Representing Điện Biên province were Lò Văn Cương, Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, along with leaders of various departments, agencies, socio-political organizations, and numerous businesses and travel agencies.

The Mường Thanh Walking Street serves as a dedicated space for residents to introduce local specialties, promote regional cuisine, and showcase OCOP products and traditional handicrafts. Beyond being a marketplace, the walking street is a cultural window into the lives of the people of Điện Biên, while simultaneously acting as an economic engine to improve local livelihoods. Authorities of Điện Biên Phủ ward have committed to accompanying and providing the most favorable conditions for investors and vendors alike.

To ensure the street operates effectively and becomes a genuine cultural and tourism highlight, Standing Vice Chairman Lò Văn Cương urged Điện Biên Phủ ward to review and issue appropriate operating regulations. He emphasized the need to organize the space logically while maintaining the distinct cultural identity of the province’s ethnic groups.

Furthermore, the area must strictly ensure environmental hygiene, fire safety, security, and the development of a civilized urban lifestyle. SMART CITY Infrastructure Investment JSC, acting as the main investor, is expected to manage operations professionally, focusing on local history, architecture, and food safety to create a truly unique destination.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also been tasked with coordinating folk music and dance performances to keep the atmosphere lively. At the same time, the Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion Center will intensify its efforts to link with travel companies to integrate the walking street into official tour itineraries and promote the brand across digital platforms.
