Điện Biên works with HCM Youth Union Central Committee on 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory

ĐBP – The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee of Điện Biên Province held a working session on Tuesday (February 27) with the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee regarding the organisation of a wide range of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).

The meeting was attended by Trần Quốc Cường, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with Nguyễn Minh Triết, Secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and Chairman of the Vietnamese Students' Association.

During the working session, representatives of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee briefed on the progress of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.

The union's activities for the period of 2023-2025 include a competition focusing on understanding the significance of the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory and the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Accords on the cessation of hostilities in Việt Nam. The theme for this competition is "Điện Biên Phủ - Aspiration of Rivers and Mountains".

A children's painting competition centered around the themes of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory and the present-day Điện Biên will also be organised.

In addition to the assigned tasks, the union will organise some additional activities, including an exchange programme with labour force and youth volunteers who participated in the Điện Biên Phủ Campaign; a programme titled “Returning to the Roots for Youth Volunteers”; a competition for collecting and understanding postage stamps for children with the theme “70 years of the historic Điện Biên Phủ Victory”; the 5th National “Điện Biên Little Soldiers” Festival; and the journey titled “Điện Biên Phủ - Aspiration of Rivers and Mountains”.

Speaking at the working session, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Cường highly appreciated the activities organised by the union in Điện Biên Province and their support for the overall development of the region.

Cường proposed that the union guide and coordinate with the Provincial Youth Union of Điện Biên Province to adjust the timing and content of the programs.

Điện Biên Province will ensure the best conditions to successfully organise the union's activities in the province.

Secretary of the Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee Triết affirmed that the union will ensure the highest standard of quality for the activities to provide special experiences for participants on this occasion.

He also stated that the union will intensify the dissemination of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.
