Điện Biên requested to list projects in need of NGO support

ĐBP – The Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organisation Affairs (NGOs) requested Điện Biên Province to develop a list of projects and areas in need of support from foreign NGOs in the coming years.

This request was made during a meeting between the committee’s delegation and the provincial People’s Committee regarding the management and use of foreign NGO aid in the province.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Phạm Đức Toàn, appreciates the activities of NGOs in Điện Biên Province.

At the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Phạm Đức Toàn, stated that there are currently 14 registered foreign NGOs operating in Điện Biên Province. These organisations have provided aid through 61 programmes, projects, and non-project activities.

The activities of these NGOs comply with Vietnamese legal regulations and provide benefits to the targeted beneficiaries. The organisations have effectively coordinated with local partners to implement programmes, projects, and non-project activities as committed, contributing to poverty alleviation and social welfare in the province.

The implementation of aid programmes and projects in health, education, and rural development aligns with community needs and has garnered support from government levels and local beneficiaries. Some projects, characterised by significant aid value and long-term implementation, have improved the quality of life for local residents.

Trần Phú Cường, head of the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organisation Affairs’ delegation, speaks at the meeting.

During the meeting, representatives from the relevant provincial departments and sectors exchanged and clarified additional activity results, shared experiences, addressed challenges, and made proposals and recommendations for managing and mobilising NGO aid in the province.

Trần Phú Cường, head of the committee’s delegation, acknowledged the strict and serious implementation of NGO aid management and mobilization in Điện Biên Province.

He recommended that the province establish a mechanism that aligns with local conditions, strengthen supervision and post-evaluation of mobilisation, reception, use, and management of aid and NGO activities, and develop a list of projects and areas requiring support in the coming years.

The province should maintain regular information exchanges and prioritise specialised training for staff involved in NGO-related work.

Điện Biên Province expressed its desire for the committee to continue introducing organisations with appropriate fields of operation and full legal standing to carry out activities in the province, as well as to enhance support in managing and mobilising NGO aid.
