Điện Biên holds expanded pickleball tournament for Youth Union officials

ĐBP - This morning (March 22), the Điện Biên provincial Youth Union held the opening ceremony of the 2025 Expanded Pickleball Tournament for Youth Union Officials.

Attending the ceremony was Comrade Giàng Thị Hoa, Member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Council.

The tournament attracts the participation of over 250 athletes from various agencies, units, district, town, and city-level Youth Unions, as well as affiliated chapters.

The athletes are divided into three groups (including leadership, Youth Union officials, and mass movement participants), competing in nine events. Each group competes in three categories: men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Particularly, in the leadership group, the men’s doubles event is divided into two age categories: 50 years and under, and 51 years and above. The women’s doubles event is not divided by age. In each event, the athletes are divided into groups and compete in a round-robin format to accumulate points, with the best-performing pairs advancing to the semi-finals and finals.

The tournament takes place over three days (from March 21 to 23) at eight pickleball courts located behind the Điện Biên provincial Multi-Purpose Gymnasium and the provincial Youth Activity Center. At the conclusion of the tournament, based on the results in each event, the organizing panel will award trophies, medals, and prizes to the winning pairs.

The 2025 Expanded Pickleball Tournament for Youth Union Officials is a practical activity to celebrate major national holidays and political events; as well as to welcome the Party congresses at all levels towards the 15th Điện Biên provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030. The tournament also aims to promote the campaign “All People Exercise Following the Great Uncle Hồ’s Example,” encourage the practice and competition of pickleball across the province, and foster solidarity, connection, and exchange among localities and units.
