It can be affirmed that this is both a political task and an “order from the heart” of soldiers wearing green uniforms, committed to supporting the people in border areas.
With deep responsibility and affection for the people in the border areas, officers and soldiers of the Na Cô Sa Border Post in Na Cô Sa commune (Nậm Pồ district), have worked closely with local authorities and mass organizations to support the elimination of temporary, dilapidated houses for many disadvantaged households. Not only do they protect the borders of the Fatherland with steady hands, but the border guards are also skilled builders, always ready to contribute their efforts to help the people have stable, durable homes.

Major Đỗ Xuân Điềm, Deputy Political Officer of the Na Cô Sa Border Post, shared that to help the people eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the unit proactively advises the local Party committees and authorities; collaborates with relevant sectors and organizations to effectively implement the program with creative, effective solutions, ensuring that households in need of housing will receive new, solid homes. The unit has assigned officers to conduct a review, evaluate, and select households that meet the conditions and standards as required.
“We launched a call for all officers and soldiers in the unit to join the campaign to eliminate temporary, dilapidated houses for the people in the area, with specific tasks such as dismantling old houses, leveling the ground, and building new homes. As a result, the unit mobilized 53 working days with 132 officers and soldiers participating; many new homes have been completed, inspected, and handed over to needy people,” he added.

“I am very grateful to the Party, the State, the local authorities, especially the officers and soldiers of the Na Cô Sa Border Post for their support, helping with the labor of dismantling the old house, transporting materials, and leveling the ground... With the new house, my family no longer worries about rain or sun, and we can focus on developing our economy and building a better life,” shared Vàng Thị Dợ from Na Cô Sa 4 hamlet, Na Cô Sa commune.
In two communes, Nà Bủng and Vàng Đán (Nậm Pồ district), with the support of officers and soldiers of the Nà Bủng Border Post, 44 new houses have been completed and put into use as part of the solidarity house program for poor and near-poor households in border areas (34 in Nà Bủng commune, 10 in Vàng Đán commune). Tráng A Dè, Chairman of the Nà Bủng commune People’s Committee, affirmed that over the past years, troops of the Nà Bủng Border Post have always been alongside the local authorities to build new-style rural areas and help people develop the economy and reduce poverty. Implementing the solidarity house program, they have actively worked with local authorities, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee’s local chapter, and mass organizations to mobilize funds, provide labor, and help people build houses. These practical, meaningful activities have strengthened the solidarity between the military and the people, enhancing the image of the Uncle Hồ’s soldiers in the heart of the people in the border area, contributing to building strong people’s defense posture and border protection.

With the spirit of “The border post is home, the border is our homeland, the people of all ethnic minority groups are our brothers and sisters,” units under the Border Guard Command of Điện Biên province have worked alongside, mobilized, and contributed labor with local authorities and border communes to eliminate temporary, dilapidated houses. The command has directed units to proactively develop plans, collaborate with local Party committees and authorities, the chapters of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the grassroots level to widely propagate the purpose and significance of the campaign “Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025” and the program to support building solidarity houses for poor and near-poor households in border areas. They also enhanced propaganda efforts, encouraging the people to support the policy of building houses for those in need, those living in dilapidated houses, and those wanting new homes in border villages. Reportedly, they have organized nearly 300 meetings so far, attracting over 10,000 attendees.

In the process of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, border guard units have worked closely with local authorities to review, evaluate, and ensure the correct beneficiaries, ensuring transparency, fairness, and compliance with regulations, without causing negative public opinion or disturbing security in the border areas. They have been ready to mobilize forces and resources from each unit and work with local authorities to assist in building houses for poor and near-poor households who are unable to build houses on their own, ensuring timely progress and quality. The units have organized and mobilized officers and soldiers to participate in nearly 800 working days to transport materials, level the ground, and build homes for disadvantaged families.
With high determination, the involvement of the entire political system, and the support of local border guards, many new and stable homes have been completed, handed over, and put into use. Specifically, the solidarity house program for poor and near-poor households in border areas has seen 300/300 houses completed across four border districts (150 houses in Nậm Pồ, 46 in Mường Nhé, 20 in Mường Chà, and 84 in Điện Biên), meeting the needs and contributing to stabilizing the long-term living conditions of people in border areas.

Each completed house means a stable home for a poor or near-poor household, allowing them to focus on economic development and escape poverty. This also helps strengthen the trust of the people in the Party, the State, the military, the border guard force, and local authorities, contributing to the reinforcement of the national sovereignty, border security, and great national unity bloc.
