Điện Biên strengthens cooperation on women’s union with three northern Lao provinces

ĐBP – The Điện Biên Provincial Women’s Union hosted a meeting with representatives from the women’s unions of three northern Lao provinces of Phoong Sa Ly, Oudomxay, and Luang Prabang on Tuesday in Điện Biên Phủ City.

The women’s unions of the four provinces sign the 2024-2026 memorandum of understanding.

In a spirit of solidarity, special friendship, and mutual trust and understanding, and in accordance with the roles, responsibilities, and laws of each country, the Điện Biên Women’s Union joined the Women’s Unions of Phoong Sa Ly, Oudomxay, and Luang Prabang to exchange information, share achievements, and discuss lessons learned in national development, women’s movements, and union activities in recent years.

The unions reviewed the outcomes of their 2022–2024 cooperation agreement, highlighting regular updates on socio-economic development in each province.

Delegates discussed and agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding focusing on coordinated efforts to educate members on preserving and promoting the great friendship and special solidarity between Việt Nam and Laos and between Điện Biên and the provinces of Phoong Sa Ly, Oudomxay, and Luang Prabang.

The women’s unions of each province committed to guiding and supporting local women’s unions, especially in border districts and communes, to actively implement the cooperation agreement.

They also plan to enhance cultural exchanges, organise friendship activities, and conduct visits to share work experiences, develop union organisations, and promote the cultural traditions of each province.
