Điện Biên receives VNĐ 50 billion for eliminating makeshift, dilapidated houses

ĐBP - On January 2, the Standing Committee of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Điện Biên province held a ceremony to receive financial support from the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) to eliminate makeshift, dilapidated houses for poor families in the province.

The event drew the attendance of Permanent Deputy Secretary of Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee Mùa A Sơn; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Điện Biên Province Lê Thành Đô; Vice Chairwoman of the Điện Biên Povincial People’s Council Giàng Thị Hoa; Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Điện Biên Province’s Chapter of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Mùa A Vảng; leaders of the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group; and representatives of the province’s departments, agencies, and organizations.   

Reportedly, the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group donated VNĐ 50 billion to support the construction of 1,000 “Great Unity Houses”, or VNĐ 50 million each, for poor families facing housing difficulties in the province. The money was extracted from the group’s business operating funds.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Mr. Phạm Văn Thanh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group, emphasized that alongside its business operations, the company always prioritizes social welfare. With a spirit of community responsibility, the company annually conducts social welfare activities, with funding increasing each year. In 2023, the group’s total amount of money spent on social welfare activities reached over VNĐ 260 billion, and for 2024, it exceeded VNĐ 300 billion. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group also expressed gratitude to the Điện Biên Province’s leaders for creating favorable conditions for the group to successfully implement the meaningful activities.

For his part, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Điện Biên Province Lê Thành Đô thanked the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group for their support to the province’s poor households. He emphasized that the financial assistance contributes to the province’s implementation of poverty reduction, accelerating the process of building new-style rural areas, and paving the way for the province’s commitment to eliminating makeshift, dilapidated housing by 2025. The province hoped to continue to receive the support from the Việt Nam National Petroleum Group in social welfare and poverty reduction efforts, committing to managing, allocating, and utilizing the funds effectively, contributing to bringing practical benefits to needy people.
