A Pa Chải Flagpole to be unveiled in early May

ĐBP - A solemn ceremony for flag raising and inauguration of the A Pa Chải Flagpole is scheduled to take place in Sín Thầu commune, Mường Nhé district, Điện Biên province - the sacred westernmost point of the country on May 7.

The event is organized on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 - 2025), as well as to celebrate the 15th provincial Party Congress.

According to the plan of the provincial People’s Committee, the ceremony will be held at the waiting area for the border marker. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, delegates will proceed to the A Pa Chải Flagpole site, which stands 1,432 meters above sea level, to participate in the flag raising ceremony, including the flag salute and a tree planting activity to mark the occasion.

To ensure thorough preparation for this important event, the provincial People’s Committee has assigned the provincial Border Guard Command to take the lead in organizing the ceremony, developing the program script, and conducting rehearsals. The committee is also responsible for preparing the facilities, ensuring security in the event area, and coordinating hospitality and reception activities at the A Pa Chải Border Post.

The provincial Police and Military Command are tasked with ensuring security, public order, fire safety, and emergency rescue plans before, during, and after the ceremony. The provincial Department of Health will prepare medical personnel, equipment, medications, and health response plans to ensure food safety throughout the event. The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment will handle plant preparations, site selection, and guidance on planting the commemorative trees.

The Mường Nhé district People’s Committee will be responsible for coordinating all activities, preparing accommodations, welcoming delegates, ensuring environmental sanitation, mobilizing local youths and people to participate in, assist with hospitality, and provide logistical support. The provincial and Central media agencies will widely promote the event before, during, and after the ceremony, to spread patriotism and showcase the images of the country’s borderland.

The A Pa Chải Flagpole is a symbol of sacred sovereignty and a highlight for cultural and historical tourism. It contributes to awakening national pride, solidarity, and a sense of responsibility among the people in the task of building and protecting the national border.
