Điện Biên kicks off 2025 Ban Flower Festival

ĐBP - Điện Biên province officially kicked off the 2025 Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival and the 8th Ethnic Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival on the evening of March 14.

The event, held at the provincial stadium, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Lê Thành Long, Member of the Party Central Committee, international delegates, and leaders from various ministries and provinces.

Present at the event, from the host Điện Biên province, were: Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Mùa A Sơn, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; and Lò Văn Phương, Chairman of the provincial People’s Council.

The festival’s opening ceremony was broadcast live on VTV1 (national television channel in Việt Nam), with a repeat broadcast on the provincial Radio and Television.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Thành Đô emphasized that the Ban Flower Festival has become a signature brand of Điện Biên province’s tourism, eagerly anticipated by locals and tourists alike. He noted that the festival’s success has contributed to the growth of Điện Biên’s tourism industry, leveraging culture as an internal strength, fostering ethnic unity, and ensuring political stability and national defense. This year’s festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of traditional cultural values, with a range of activities showcasing the province’s unique heritage.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Lê Thành Long emphasized at the ceremony that the Ban Flower Festival, along with the Ethnic Culture, Sports, and Tourism Festival, has become a significant event that fosters unity and celebrates the rich cultural heritage of northern mountainous ethnic groups within Việt Nam’s diverse cultural landscape. He suggested that Điện Biên should develop tourism professionally, focusing on quality and effectiveness, while leveraging its unique strengths and protecting the environment, natural resources, culture, and traditions of the region.

The Deputy Prime Minister also encouraged cultural exchange between Điện Biên’s ethnic communities and other localities nationwide.

Following the opening ceremony, attendees enjoyed a vibrant artistic program, “Điện Biên - Sắc ban bừng sáng” (Điện Biên - Ban flower blooming), which featured three chapters: “Chạm miền ký ức” (Touching memories), “Cảm thức sắc hương” (Feeling of color and fragrance), and “Mở bừng tinh hoa - vươn mình rực rỡ” (Unfolding excellence - radiant growth).

The program showcased Điện Biên’s history, stunning natural beauty, and unique cultural identity through various performances, 3D and 4D visuals, and LED displays. The main image of the program is the Ban flower, a symbol of life, culture, and the indomitable spirit of the land of Điện Biên.

The event concluded with a musical performance featuring renowned artists, including Tùng Dương, Dương Hoàng Yến, Ngô Lan Hương, Double2T.
