The Mường Phăng Cherry Blossom Festival 2026 is expected to take place from January 9 to 11 with the theme “Mường Phăng enters Spring - Cherry blossoms show off colors”. The art program “Mường Phăng enters Spring - Cherry blossoms show off colors” organized at the Mường Phăng Victory Park honors the Party, Uncle Hồ, love for the homeland and country, the cultural beauty of ethnic groups, and the scenery of Mường Phăng in the new spring. Traditional folk melodies and dances blend with modern stage lighting, opening up a vibrant and emotional festive atmosphere.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is organized annually by Mường Phăng commune at the beginning of the new year, attracting the participation and enjoyment of a large number of people and tourists. This is also an occasion to promote the image of Mường Phăng, Điện Biên, and promote local tourism development. Within the framework of the Festival is an art program exchanging folk songs, folk dances, and traditional musical instruments of ethnic groups, with a close space imbued with identity.

The cultural space of the Thái, Mông, and Khơ Mú ethnic groups is vividly recreated through traditional costumes, crafts, folk games, and art performances. Visitors can directly experience activities such as pounding bánh giầy (day cake), xòe dancing, bamboo dancing (nhảy sạp), and playing khèn, creating a natural connection between performers and viewers.

Prominent is the kayak race on Pá Khoang lake, with men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles categories. Folk games such as tug of war, hitting gongs, and blindfolded duck catching are organized, promising to attract a large number of people and tourists to participate, cheer, and experience. These activities contribute to recreating community life, bringing laughter and connection in the festival space.

An activity with long-term significance is the launching ceremony and planting of cherry blossom trees, taking place at Kéo village. Each cherry tree planted is a commitment to environmental protection, landscape creation, and sustainable tourism development.
