Especially, experiential activities such as fabric weaving, knitting, and stream fishing are organized regularly, creating a distinct highlight for tourists. Tourists can chat and live with indigenous people, participate in daily activities, thereby clearly feeling the rhythm of life, customs, and cultural beauty of each land.
Besides, each season of the year, Điện Biên puts on a separate color, contributing to enriching the experience for visitors. From late October, the bright yellow of wild sunflowers seems to dispel the cold of winter days, covering the hillsides with yellow. By early January, cherry blossoms bloom in full, dyeing the space of Pá Khoang lake, Mường Phăng commune, pink. When spring comes, plum and apricot blossoms shyly bloom white on the hillsides, embracing peaceful stilt houses. From March, Ban flowers - the symbol of the Northwest mountains and forests - bloom white throughout the mountains and forests. And when the rice ripens, golden terraced fields stretch out, the scent of new rice spreads in the wind, creating a natural picture that is both majestic and poetic.
Experiential tourism in Điện Biên does not stop at the village space but also expands to journeys of discovering and conquering nature and the unique cultural features of ethnic groups. With wild, attractive natural beauty, bearing characteristics with much potential for tourism development, this place converges many unique cultural heritages of ethnic minorities. Participating in the folk game of con throwing, Trần Thị Phương Dung, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, said that the experience of throwing con is an extremely interesting and novel feeling. She was explained by local people about the meaning of each detail, from the circle on the bamboo pole to the materials used to make the con ball. Through that, she understood more about the people’s beliefs and aspirations for a bumper harvest and a full life.
