Senior Party official works with Điện Biên Party Committee

ĐBP – During a working session with the Standing Committee of the Điện Biên Province Party Committee on Thursday, Politburo member Trương Thị Mai, who also serves as the permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat and head of its Organisation Commission, emphasised the need for unwavering dedication and the full harnessing of responsibilities and capabilities by both organisations and individuals in Điện Biên Province.

Her emphasis was directed towards the effective completion of assigned tasks, all of which pivotally contribute to the successful commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory. The meeting addressed the province's socio-economic progress, defense and security, Party consolidation, and the forthcoming anniversary celebrations."

The meeting was attended by notable Trần Hồng Hà, Deputy Prime Minister; Nguyễn Trọng Nghĩa, Party Central Committee Secretary and Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Đỗ Văn Chiến, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and President of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front; as well as senior representatives from the Ministries of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Public Security, National Defence, and the Central Party Office.

From Điện Biên Province, the delegation included Trần Quốc Cường, Party Central Committee Member and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; accompanied by members of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee.

Điện Biên has reported a series of notable achievements across multiple fronts, all attributable to the steadfast leadership of the provincial Party Committee. In the arena of socio-economic development, defense and security, and Party building, the province has made significant strides.

Economically, Điện Biên has continued its upward trajectory, boasting a commendable first-quarter growth rate estimated at 6.07 percent. This accomplishment places it fourth among the 14 localities in the northern mountainous region and an impressive 25th out of 63 provinces nationwide. Furthermore, state budget revenues have surged, surpassing expectations by increasing to 18.03 percent of the annual plan. Notably, the disbursement of public investment capital has also been commendable, reaching 18.58 percent of the Prime Minister's designated plan.

The province experienced a notable uptick in tourism, with nearly 450,000 tourists visiting, marking a 1.46-fold increase compared to the previous year. Tourism revenue reached VNĐ777 billion, surpassing the planned target by 1.48 times.

Additionally, there has been effective leadership in Party and political system building. Timely guidance has been provided to stabilise political security, social order, and safety in the province.

The province has prioritised the implementation of 18 urban renovation projects in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility. Presently, five of these projects are underway and are slated for completion before April 10. Additionally, five other projects are in the process of contractor selection.

Regarding projects outlined in the public investment plan for the anniversary, progress stands at 80 percent completion. These projects are scheduled to be fully finalised by mid-April, with a deadline set no later than May 7.

During the working session, Mai emphasised the importance of advisory agencies crafting a comprehensive scenario for the upcoming anniversary ceremony. Mai then delegated Nghĩa, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, to lead the overall scenario development process. Nghĩa will be directly responsible for overseeing and allocating specific tasks to each agency and unit involved, ensuring the seamless execution and success of the commemorative ceremony.

Mai recommended that coordinating agencies, ministries, and sectors prioritise full attendance at rehearsal sessions. Furthermore, she urged all agencies and individuals to commit wholeheartedly, maximising their responsibility and capabilities to effectively accomplish their assigned tasks. She expressed confidence in the province's ability to excel in serving the ceremony, underlining the importance of collective effort and dedication in ensuring its success.

Speaking on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Cường underscored the urgency of the situation, noting that there are only 37 days remaining until the anniversary commences. In response, the province will mobilise the entire political system, spanning various levels and sectors, while also garnering the support of the people, to ensure the successful organisation of the event.
