Previously, a devastating flash flood swept through several hamlets in Mường Pồn Commune on the early morning of July 25, 2024, resulting in great loss of life and property. Following the directive of the Minister of Public Security to support the construction of houses for households affected by the disaster, the provincial police reviewed and identified 20 households whose homes were either swept away or completely collapsed in Mường Pồn. The provincial police jsđ quickly conducted surveys, completed necessary procedures, and mobilised resources to build new houses for the affected families.
The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, along with the Mobile Police Department, deployed hundreds of officers, soldiers, and construction equipment. To date, they have completed the construction of and handed over 10 out of the 20 houses, ahead of schedule, while the remaining 10 are nearing completion. The houses have a minimum area of 30 square meters and are built according to the "3 solid" standards, ensuring technical, quality, and aesthetic standards, while also being suitable for the local customs and needs.
Each family also received financial support of VNĐ70 million (with VNĐ50 million from the Ministry of Public Security and VNĐ20 million from Điện Biên District), along with counterpart funding from the families.
During the meeting, the delegation handed over the financial support to the People's Committee of Mường Pồn Commune to support the residents. They also visited and encouraged the households affected by the disaster, encouraging them to overcome difficulties and quickly stabilise their lives.
