In attendance were Senior Lieutenant General Nguyễn Tân Cương, a Member of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, and Deputy Minister of National Defence, alongside leaders of the Organising Committee for the 70th anniversary activities commemorating the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.
Joining the rehearsal were Trần Quốc Cường, a Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Điên Biên Provincial Party Committee, and Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
Participating in the military parade were four forces totaling over 12,000 individuals: the artillery force, the air force, the marching force, and the ground force.
The highlight of the event was the presence of the artillery force, showcasing 18 howitzers with a 105mm diameter, and the air force, featuring 11 helicopters flying over the grandstand.
The programme will commence with a series of 21 salutes set against the backdrop of the national anthem of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam. Following this, 11 helicopters conduct their performance, carrying the Party and national flags as they soared over the podium.
Subsequently, the marching formation took center stage, comprising four formations of military flags, 24 military and civilian defence formations, and the procession formation, which included nine formations representing veterans, youth volunteers, militia, workers, farmers, intellectuals, youth, women, and ethnic minorities in the northwest.
Right after the rehearsal, officials from the Ministry of National Defence and Điện Biên Province shared insights and provided guidance to the participating units, addressing various issues to align with the actual circumstances and fulfill the requirements. Additionally, they urged officials, soldiers, students, and civilians to actively engage in the programme.
The military parade and procession stand as pivotal highlights in commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (1954-2024), serving to pay tribute to the armed forces and underscore the significance of the historic victory at Điện Biên Phủ.
