Uncle Hồ’s teachings - “Toward work, one must be devoted,” “Toward the People, one must be respectful and polite” - are concretized by the Police of Pu Nhi commune through their approach to grasping local situations, engaging with citizens, and handling their affairs. Staying close to the people to comprehend their worries also serves as the baseline for selecting appropriate communication content, mobilization methods, and handling procedures, protecting the lawful rights and legitimate interests of citizens.
Nguyễn Thế Bắc, Chief of the Pu Nhi commune Police, stated: “We determine that studying and following Uncle Hồ must be linked with the responsibility of safeguarding the People and the quality of mission execution by each officer and soldier. Every officer must be devoted to their duty, respect and listen to the people, resolve issues strictly in accordance with the law, and see responsibilities through to the very end.”
Following organizational streamlining and restructuring, Pu Nhi commune comprises 16 villages. To better understand and serve the People, the commune Police recently organized a “Police Listen to the People’s Opinions” conference. Local villagers exchanged views and contributed feedback on safeguarding security and order; combating crimes and social vices; managing residency; conducting legal outreach; and building the All-People Movement for Safeguarding National Security. Opinions were earnestly received, discussed, and clarified. Matters within authority were considered and handled, while broader petitions were synthesized to advise competent levels for resolution. Voices from the grassroots provide the police force with additional grounds to adjust working methods and elevate service quality.
In Dê Chơ village, more than 80 residents recently participated in a communication session organized by the Pu Nhi commune Police on identifying fake news, false information, artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content, and traffic safety and order laws. Officers and soldiers instructed villagers on verifying information through official channels, remaining cautious regarding images, videos, and audio tracks bearing hallmarks of fabrication, and alerting police agencies upon detecting suspicious signs. Lý A Nhìa shared: “Through the outreach session, I understood that images and voices online can be faked. Seeing strange news, one must cross-check official sources; if unclear, do not share it. We also remind one another to observe traffic laws to ensure safety for ourselves and others.”
The commune Police also coordinate with village heads, reputable persons, mass organizations, and grassroots-level security forces to communicate on preventing drug abuse, child marriage, consanguineous marriage, and domestic violence, as well as protecting children. Recently, the unit collaborated with families and mass organizations to mobilize three individuals with substance use disorders to enter voluntary addiction treatment.
Mobilizing the handover of homemade firearms and supporting tools is closely tied to safeguarding each household’s safety. Through village meetings, community gatherings, and direct encounters, officers explain legal regulations alongside life and health risks stemming from illegal weapon possession and usage. Numerous residents have voluntarily surrendered weapons, helping curb accident risks and regrettable consequences when conflicts arise.
In mass mobilization work, the commune Police patiently explain, persuade, and assist citizens in defusing disagreements, preserving community solidarity. In Nậm Ngám village, a swidden land dispute between two households sparked tensions, affecting village unity. The commune Police collaborated with the village head and mass organizations to meet the parties repeatedly, analyze legal regulations, and encourage both sides to remain calm and agree on a harmonious resolution, thereby preserving neighborhood ties and restoring peace of mind for labor and production.
Head of Nậm Ngám village Lò Văn Diên shared: “Commune police officers are regularly close to the people and embedded in the grassroots, coordinating to resolve emerging issues. Attending to and defusing conflicts has helped villagers consistently feel secure in labor and production.”
Đinh Quang Bạo, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Pu Nhi commune, assessed: “The commune Police have brought into full play their core role in ensuring security and order, proactively advising Party committees and authorities, and coordinating the prompt settlement of grassroots issues. Staying close to the area, respecting, and listening to the People elevate the efficacy of crime prevention and combat, strengthening the attachment and consensus of residents in safeguarding security and order. A stable locality creates conditions for people to feel assured in advancing household economies, cultivating a cultured lifestyle, and reinforcing community unity.”
Strictly maintaining legal discipline and protecting peace so that people can cultivate production, raise children, and develop villages are practical deeds through which the Pu Nhi commune Police learn from and practice Uncle Hồ’s teachings. Staying close to the people, respecting the people, and relying on the people across every endeavor contribute to cultivating bonded ties, maximizing community strength, and building a solid people’s security posture right from the grassroots.
