Điện Biên seeks French support for investment in culture and tourism

ĐBP – Trần Quốc Cường, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee, on Saturday called on the French Embassy in Việt Nam to facilitate connections with French businesses and investors to explore and implement investment and cooperation projects in the fields of culture and tourism in Điện Biên Province.

His remarks were made during a meeting with Olivier Brochet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Việt Nam.

The meeting was also attended by Lê Thành Đô, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Giàng Thị Hoa, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Council; and representatives of various provincial departments and agencies.

During the meeting, Secretary Cường highlighted Điện Biên’s potential and strengths in areas such as agriculture, culture, and historical tourism. He also provided an update on the ongoing cultural and tourism collaboration between Điện Biên and the French Embassy in Việt Nam.

Expressing a strong desire to foster friendship and cooperation, Điện Biên Province requested the Ambassador’s continued support in promoting the province to French localities and potential partners.

Secretary Cường also encouraged the Ambassador to advocate for increased sponsorships and programmes in Điện Biên.

Furthermore, the Secretary sought the Ambassador’s assistance in connecting Điện Biên with French enterprises and investors to explore cultural and tourism projects. He also proposed collaboration with French consultants to enhance urban lighting systems and exchange expertise in preserving and displaying outdoor museum artifacts, especially large-scale military equipment.

In response, Ambassador Olivier Brochet expressed his gratitude for the warm and respectful reception from Điện Biên’s leaders.

He reaffirmed France’s commitment to strengthening cooperative and friendly relations with Việt Nam and Điện Biên Province.

Acknowledging the traditional ties between Điện Biên and French partners, the Ambassador pledged to continue fostering these relationships and expressed optimism about future cooperation and development opportunities.
