Điện Biên honoured with medals and orders of friendship from the Lao Government

ĐBP – A ceremony was held in Điện Biên Province on Wednesday (December 25) to present the Order of Friendship and the Medal of Friendship from the Lao People's Democratic Republic to collectives and individuals in Điện Biên Province who contributed to socio-economic development in Phongsaly Province up to 2019.

The ceremony was attended by Lao representatives, including Khamphoy Vannasane, a member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary and Governor of Phongsaly Province; Khamkhan Chanthavisouk, a member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary and Governor of Luang Prabang Province; and Bounkhong Lachiemphon, an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary, and Governor of Oudomxay Province, along with representatives of the Party and government from the three northern Lao provinces.

From Điện Biên, attendees included Trần Quốc Cường, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, along with provincial leaders, district leaders, and representatives of departments and agencies. Former Central Committee member and former Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Điện Biên, Lò Mai Trinh, also attended the ceremony.

According to Decision No 116 dated April 22, 2019, by the Lao Government on awarding the Order of Friendship and the Medal of Friendship to collectives and individuals with achievements and contributions to socio-economic development in Phongsaly Province up to 2019, one collective and two individuals were honoured during this event.

Under the authorisation of the President and Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Khamphoy Vannasane presented the Order of Friendship to the leadership of Điện Biên Province; the Order of Friendship to Trần Văn Sơn, a member of the Party Central Committee, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office, and former Secretary of Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee; and the Medal of Friendship to Lò Mai Trinh, former Central Committee member and former Secretary of Điện Biên Provincial Party Committee.

These prestigious awards from the Lao Government recognise the outstanding contributions of collectives and individuals in fostering and strengthening the traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, States, and peoples of Việt Nam and Laos.
