At the meeting, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường provided an overview of Điện Biên Province, highlighting its potential and strengths in agricultural and forestry production, tourism, and energy industry development. In the context of global integration and international cooperation, Điện Biên Province has established friendly cooperative relations with localities in six northern provinces of Laos, northeastern provinces of Thailand, Batna Province in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, and Yunnan Province in China.
Currently, the province is working to establish cooperative ties with several localities in countries such as the Russian Federation, Japan, France, South Korea, and the Dominican Republic. These efforts contribute to local socio-economic development while strengthening solidarity, friendship, mutual trust, and understanding between the regions involved.
The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee expressed a desire for Điện Biên to expand and enhance its international cooperation, particularly to support the province's socio-economic development goals, with a focus on tourism. He noted that Belarus possesses valuable experience and resources that could help Điện Biên advance its tourism industry, including expertise in restaurant and hotel management, tourism promotion, and the development of various forms of experiential, leisure, recreational, sports, exploration, and adventure tourism.
Additionally, he proposed collaboration between the Brest Province Executive Committee, the “Brest Hero-Fortress” Memorial Complex, and the Điện Biên Phủ Historical Victory Museum. This partnership would focus on professional exchange and support in preserving documents and artefacts, maintaining and restoring artworks—especially large-scale oil paintings—and sharing expertise in organising and displaying exhibits within museums and outdoor spaces, particularly large-scale military weapons and vehicles.
Deputy chairman of the Brest Regional Executive Committee, Kravchuk Vadim Vasilevich, commended Điện Biên for its achievements in socio-economic development. He expressed full support for trilateral cooperation with Saint Petersburg and encouraged Điện Biên to explore collaboration in healthcare, education, and post-secondary training, such as university-level exchanges.
Kravchuk also emphasized the importance of regular exchanges between medical professionals from both sides to share knowledge and expertise. He proposed cultural cooperation, particularly in the museum sector, where specialists could collaborate on historical images and information.
Looking ahead to 2025, Kravchuk suggested that Brest host sporting events and invited Điện Biên to send athletes to compete in sports like football, swimming, and running, envisioning a new chapter in sports collaboration between the two regions.
Earlier, the Điện Biên delegation visited the “Brest Hero-Fortress” Memorial Complex, which features 90 paintings depicting the Điện Biên Phủ Battlefield and images showcasing the province's socio-economic advancements.
