Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou, representing the Republic of Belarus, presented a capsule containing earth and photographic materials from the iconic "Brest Fortress" to Điện Biên Province. This exchange holds deep cultural and historical significance, signifying the enduring bond between the two regions.
During the working session, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou emphasised the immense significance of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, not only for the future of Việt Nam but also for the entire Southeast Asian region. He highlighted how this victory served as inspiration for the national liberation struggles of other peoples against colonialists.
Regarding the friendly relations between Việt Nam and Belarus, Ambassador Baravikou stressed Việt Nam's special importance to his country. He mentioned the significant contribution of Belarus, along with other Soviet Republics, to Việt Nam's struggle for sovereignty, independence, and economic development.
Ambassador Baravikou also praised the enduring partnership between Belarus and Việt Nam in the fight against American aggression and the shared commitment to peace. He said the selection of the Brest Fortress Memorial Complex as a partner of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory Museum was not arbitrary. Brest Fortress in Belarus was one of the first places to bear the brunt of the Nazi German army on June 22, 1941.
Vũ A Bằng, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, expressed his pleasure at welcoming and collaborating with Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou, especially during the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory. He highlighted the historical significance of the victory and the invaluable support of international friends in nation-building and defense. During the exchange, Bằng shared information about Điện Biên Province and introduced local specialties to Ambassador Baravikou, underscoring the cultural and historical ties between Điện Biên and Belarus as symbols of peace, friendship, and mutual development.
Following the discussions, Ambassador Uladzimir Baravikou presented a capsule containing earth and photographic materials of the Brest Fortress, a war memorial in Belarus commemorating the Soviet Union's resistance against the German invasion, to Điện Biên Province. In return, the Vice Chairman of the Điện Biên Provincial People's Committee presented capsules containing earth and photographic materials from Hill A1 monument, the site of the fiercest battle during the anti-French resistance war, to the Ambassador of Belarus. This exchange of these capsules and historical documents will further strengthen friendly relations and mutual understanding between the two museums, the Embassy of Belarus in Việt Nam, and Điện Biên Province, contributing to the preservation of the glorious past of both countries for current and future generations.
