Điện Biên accelerates progress of key projects ahead of Điện Biên Phủ Victory anniversary

ĐBP - Điện Biên Province is accelerating progress of projects dedicated to commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory, said local authorities at a meeting on April 4.

The provincial steering committee for major holiday and important historical event celebration from 2023 to 2025 convened its seventh meeting to examine the progress.

Chairing the meeting, secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường, head of the steering committee, ordered subcommittees to report on the project’s progress, identify obstacles and urgent tasks needed to be completed.

According to the reports, the construction of the provincial guesthouse project is expected to be completed on the 70th anniversary celebration to welcome delegations.

The provincial stadium renovation will be finished by April 10.

The Hà Nội – Điện Biên Phủ Primary School will open on April 24. The school’s reconstruction and upgrading project has been financed by Hà Nội authorities.

The urban embellishment projects have met deadlines. Five projects have selected contractors for construction and installation, and its construction is scheduled to begin in April.

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, Lê Thành Đô emphasised the importance of reaching an agreement on construction and implementation measures to fulfil deadlines, make progress, and ensure celebration quality.

It is anticipated that in order to facilitate daytime mobility for locals and visitors, several renovated roads will need to accelerate their progress during the night.

Local authorities have also paid attention to the celebration’s communication, cultural, sports, tourism and gratitude activities.

The logistics subcommittee has signed contracts with a number of local accommodation establishments for delegate reception.

To lessen the strain on lodging facilities, they have negotiated with airlines to set up early flights starting at 6 a.m. for delegates who attend the celebration and take the return trip the same day.

A representative of the provincial veterans’ association updates information on veterans participating in parades and other activities.

Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Trần Quốc Cường suggested hastening the construction of the provincial guest house so that it can be finished and occupied in time for the celebration.

Authorities of Tuần Giáo, Mường Ảng, Điện Biên Phủ City (which are situated on the route to Điện Biên) have been requested to send representatives to greet the parades and set up rest areas along the way.

Relevant agencies have been instructed to create favourable conditions for journalists to carry out their duties on the 70th anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory.

The local authorities requested that food safety, medical services, and shuttle buses for delegates be prepared.

Điện Biên Phủ will start a citywide cleanup campaign, with a focus on Nguyễn Hữu Thọ Street.
