Điện Biên fosters environmentally friendly electric taxi services

ĐBP - In recent years, the demand for transportation in Điện Biên province has increased significantly, leading to a rapid growth in taxi services, both in terms of vehicles and service quality. Notably, the introduction of electric taxis has been a groundbreaking move, contributing to a more sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation system.

According to statistics from the Điện Biên provincial Department of Construction, there are currently eight taxi companies operating in the province, with a total of over 400 vehicles. To reduce the impact of climate change and protect public health, the provincial Department of Construction has been promoting and supporting taxi companies to switch to electric vehicles.

So far, three taxi companies in the province have adopted electric vehicles, with over 150 cars in operation. One of these companies, Phan Hai 89, began operating electric taxis in 2024. Initially, the company faced some challenges, but with its modern and uniform fleet of electric taxis, it has quickly gained popularity among locals and tourists.

Some transportation companies have boldly invested in electric vehicles for their taxi services.

The “Xanh Điện Biên” taxi company has established a strong brand reputation, built trust with customers, and continues to grow with over 100 electric vehicles. According to Trần Thanh Quân, Director of Phan Hai 89, electric taxis offer several advantages over traditional fuel-powered vehicles, including lower operating costs, smoother operation, and reduced noise pollution.

These benefits have enabled taxi companies to adjust their fares, making the service more accessible to the public while reducing financial pressure on businesses. Taxi drivers have also reported significant cost savings since switching to electric vehicles.

The integration of technology has enabled many electric taxi companies to offer smart services, such as online booking, route tracking, and digital payment. This has not only enhanced the user experience but also reduced the risk of fare manipulation, a common issue in the taxi industry.

Customers have responded positively to the electric taxi service, citing its comfort, cleanliness, and affordability. The provincial Department of Construction has recognized the importance of promoting electric taxis as a sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation solution.

The department has created favorable conditions for businesses to invest in electric vehicles and develop supporting infrastructure, such as charging stations and maintenance facilities. As a result, several transportation companies have pioneered the adoption of electric taxis, receiving positive feedback from the community.

To ensure the successful integration of electric taxis, authorities have implemented specific management and support measures. All taxi vehicles must comply with regulations, including registration, installation of taxi signs and meters, and display of required information.

The provincial Department of Construction, in collaboration with relevant agencies, has launched awareness programs to educate businesses and the public about the benefits of using electric taxis in public transportation. They have also encouraged investment in electric vehicle infrastructure, aiming to create a sustainable foundation for long-term development.
